A/N: This isn't a Grey's Anatomy crossover. Please don't hate me.
Maura's Point Of View:
I woke up with pain in my whole body. I heard people talking in panic, and a light being flashed in my eyes.
"Ms. Isles, can you hear me?" A doctor asked. I was in so much shock, I didn't say anything.
"Get her to the OR!" Another doctor yelled
"Page OB and PEDS." The doctor said as they rushed me into the elevator, then it all went blank again.
Doctor Addison's Point Of View:
When wheeled Dr. Isles into the elevator, she went into cardiac arrest.
"Starting CPR!" Dr. Smith said. When the elevator doors open, Smith hoped onto the gurney and continued CPR until we got to OR 1.
"I need those paddles!" Dr. Smith yelled and Dr. Avery brought the paddles over.
"Charge to 200." Dr. Smith said
"Charging to 200. Clear!" Dr. Smith yelled.
"We got a rhythm." Dr. Avery said
Dr. shepherd was in the middle of working on the bleeders in her brain, Dr. Burke and Smith were working on heart, Dr. Williams and Avery was working on bleeders in other parts of her body, Dr. Holmes was working on her broken arm, when the baby monitor started beeping.
"She is contracting!" Dr. Montgomery said and then her heart monitor started beeping.
"She's in V-fib!" Dr. Burke said, then she flat lined.
"You got one minute to get her heart back before I'm taking the baby out!" Dr. Montgomery said
"I need the internal paddles." Dr. Smith said
"Charge to ten jewels. Clear! Nothing charge to 20. Starting cardiac massage." There was still no response, so Dr. Montgomery started the C-section. Within a minute the baby was out Dr. Montgomery and I were working on the very tiny infant.
"I'm getting no chest rise with the bagging. Starting CPR." When I saw his little chest rise and fall I put my stethoscope to his chest.
"I have a heart beat."
"Mom's heart is strong." Dr. Burke said
"I'm all done here." Dr. Williams and Dr. Avery said
"Me too." Dr. Holmes said
"Not much more to be done here either." Dr. Shepherd said leaving Dr. Burke, Smith, and Montgomery to finish up.
"I'm taking the baby up to the NICU." I said as Montgomery and I put the baby in the incubator.
Jane's Point Of View:
I woke up and I saw bright lights on the ceiling. I tried to sit up but it hurt too much.
"Shit." I whispered
"I wouldn't try to move. Your kidney, liver, and spleen are bruised." A doctor said
"And Maura?" I asked
"She is still in surgery. She had a very bad break in her arm, bleeding in the brain as well as internal bleeding. We got the bleeding under control but she had a collapsed lung and a myocardial contusion; which means that her heart was bruised do to blunt trauma to her anterior chest wall. We are doing everything we can and we have the best surgeons working on her. " She replied
"And the baby?"
"Well Maura went into premature labor and we had to do an emergency C-section and he is in the NICU."
"But she was only six months. How can he survive?"
"Well his lungs are still premature so we have him on a ventilator that will breath of him. We also have him some steroids to help mature his lungs. I want to prepare you, that he may not make it through the night but we have the number one pediatric surgeon watching him 24/7. She will be in, in a little bit to give you an update." She replied before walking out of the room. I felt tears start to roll down my cheeks. Today wasn't supposed to be like this.
Dr. Montgomery gave me an update and picture of our son. She said that there was a very low chance he will survive, because he was so premature his organs where premature and they are slowly shutting down. I don't know how I am gonna tell Maura, hell I am not even allowed to see her. They said she was still intubated and in ICU. I can't have Maura find out that her baby may die and she may never be able to see him or hold him by a doctor. That is, if she even wakes up. My thoughts where interrupted when a doctor came in.
"Hi, I'm Dr.Shepherd, I am the one who performed surgery on your wife's brain." She said
"How is she?"
"Well I went to go check on her brain function, she opened her eyes but she didn't follow any commands."
"So are you saying she is brain dead?"
"It can mean one of two things, either she just wasn't ready to wake up or she isn't gonna wake up."
"So there's still a chance?"
"There is a chance."
It has been a week since the accident. I was lying in the bed, when Dr.Montgomery came in.
"Hi Dr.Montgomery." I said
"Hello, how are you feeling?" She asked with a huge smile.
"Good. A little sore but other than that good." I replied
"That is good. And your wife?"
"She still hasn't woken up. How's the baby?"
"He is doing good, he only stopped breathing once last night."
"That's good." I said as she stared reading my chart.
"You are being discharged today?"
"Yeah I am ready to leave just waiting for the doctor."
"Well I came in here, to see if you would like to see your son?"
"Yes. Yes!" I said getting out of bed. I followed her to the elevator and up to NICU. She put a purple cover up on me, and showed me into the room. I saw incubators all around the room with little tiny babies in them. When the doctor showed me to my son, he was hooked up to wires, and he was so little. I put my hand threw the little window, and gently rubbed his arm with my index finger.
"Hi baby." I said quietly.
After I spent about thirty minutes with my son, I went to Maura's room. She was hooked to a whole bunch of machines, and a breathing tube down her throat. I pulled up a chair next to her bed and placed her hand in mine.
"He is really small but he is strong. 1 pound 1, 1ounce of strong. He has beautiful black hair, Maura beautiful. He can't open his eyes yet but I can tell he is looking for you. Can you just-can you live, can you live...for me? Please live for me." I said chocking back the tears, then I felt her give my hand a light squeeze.
