Maura's Point Of View:
I hear chitter chatter that Jane taking a week of absence. Out of all the years I've known, Jane Rizzoli, she has NEVER taken a day off work unless it was her day off. She never took her vacation days, she never took sick days, hell even if there was a family emergency. So I wonder what's so important that she will actually use her vacation time. I don't want to ask cause it's non of my business. But I can't help but wonder. It must be a week where I have Sophia cause she never asked if I would keep her extra days.
Jane's Point Of View:
You know, I'm not one to take vacations. I never take off work unless it's absolutely necessary. But I feel that after everything that's happened, I feel I deserve a break. A break from work, family, and sadly even Maura. So, I have booked a flight out to Seattle. I am going to visit my best friends from high school. Yeah I know I actually had friends, a lot actually. We were a whole squad, even though I was the only one who wanted to be a cop. While everyone was practicing there stitching skills I was practicing my shooting rang. Yes all my friends are doctors, surgeons actually. They are famous surgeons, the surgeons that you fly your kid across the world just so they can operate on your kid famous. We got the two cardio gods, Teddy Altman and Cristina Yang, we got the world's renown PEDS surgeon Arizona Robbins and her side kick Alex Karev, the ortho genius Callie Torres, last but definitely not least the talented general surgeon Meredith Grey.
It's crazy that we are all still friends. We've been friends since high school, went through collage together, then parted ways. Arizona and Callie are married and have a three year old daughter, ironically named Sofia, just spelt different. Meredith is married to Derek Shepherd, amazing neuro surgeon, they have three kids Zola, Bailey, and little Ellis. Teddy is married to a guy named Henry. Cristina is married to a trauma surgeon named Owen. Alex is dating a girl named Jo.
I am actually really excited. They haven't seen Sophia since she was three, when they all last came out so that will be fun. Also Sophia has never been to Seattle so it will be her first time. I haven't yet discussed this with Maura. Not like it's her decision I'm aloud to take my daughter wherever I want. I feel bad that I haven't been talking to Maura as much. I am just trying to get my ducks in a row and move on. It's very hard to do that when I see Maura 24/7, because I'm still in love with her. I don't think I'll ever stop loving her. I wish we could work out and maybe in the future we will give it another shot, but right now, it's just too hard and fragile.
I was on my way down to Maura's office. I got in the elevator and clicked the down button and the elevator slowly went down to the last floor. When the elevator dinged and the doors opened, I walked down the hall and to the closed door. I knocked on the door.
"Come in." I heard the feminine voice calls out. I opened the door and saw Maura clicking away at her laptop.
"Hey." I said
"Hello Jane." She said looking up.
"How's your day going?"
"It's good. How about yours?"
"It's um it's going pretty well thank you."
"So what can I help you with?"
"Well next week I'm going out of town and..."
"Yeah that's fine I can watch Sophia." She quickly interrupted
"Well actually I was gonna take Sophia with me." I said and she stop clicking and looked up at me in shock.
"I don't remember discussing this."
"I didn't know there was anything to discuss."
"Well you want to take my daughter half way across the world."
"OUR daughter," I said emphasizing 'our' "I didn't know I needed permission to take our daughter on a vacation on my week. It's summer it's not like she has school."
"Thats not the point Jane. What if something were to happen and I had no way of knowing because you didn't tell me?"
"That's why i'm telling you now. You are really over thinking this. It's not like I'm running away with her. It's for a week, 5 days, not even a full 5 days."
"What's so important in Seattle?"
"Um...remember my friends. Grey, Robbins, Torres, Yang, Altman?"
"Oh yeah...I haven't seen them in like 2 years."
"Exactly why I wanted to bring Sophia. Meredith had two other kids, and Arizona and Callie have a three year old also named Sofia."
"That will be fun for Sophia"
"Yes. And Maura, I wasn't going behind your back. I was gonna come and talk to you about this, not really like there is anything to discuss but I did it out of the respect of you."
"I know Jane. I'm sorry I am just so protective."
"I know, and I know some of that is because of me." I said and it got really quiet and we just started at each other in the eyes. For that three seconds of starting into each other's eyes, I saw the person I first fell in love with. Not the person that cheated on me and not the person I divorced. I saw the person I married, the person that I had a child with. I haven't seen that person since the day of the accident. I miss that person so much.
"Well I have work to finish up before I leave." I said breaking the silence.
"Yes, I also have work to finish up." She said looking down and her laptop.
