"So if it's cool, I wanna rock with you"

Billie POV
"Any of y'all seen Lyriq?" I asked the guys.

This is the fourth day that she hasn't been here. I hope she's good.

"No, not yet. I assumed you two were doing lesbian sex and went out of the country. Like U-Haul lesbians—probably went to Atlanta or Philadelphia, because it's really safe for Queer people out there." Bob shrugged.

"No, I haven't seen her since Tuesday evening. After she left... Hey, can I take a break? I'm gonna head to her apartment." I untied my apron.

"Sure, you know I don't mind. Conservatives work you kiddos enough as it is." Bob replied.

"Thanks, man." I came from behind the counter.

——

"Lyriq?!" I yelled.

She gave me a spare key a few weeks ago. Just so I don't have to knock.

I heard sniffling. I knew who it was coming from. It was coming from her.

I followed the noise—being led to her bedroom.

She was on the floor, with a sleeping puppy in her lap.

"Don't touch me, or he's going to bite you." She croaked out.

Her voice was so hoarse.

"Baby, what's going on?" I slowly approached her.

"S-stop. Just listen. Stop when I ask you. Get out. Leave me alone." She ranted.

Did she take bad drugs or something?

"Lyriq, what the fuck is going on?" I asked her.

She busted out in tears.

I paused.

What the hell is wrong with her? Did she get laced?

"Lyriq.." I say near her.

The dog growled at me.

"Shush, I'm not going to hurt her." I pet the dog.

He immediately chilled out.

I picked the dog up, placing it on the floor next to us.

"Whose dog is that?" I asked Lyriq.

"I found him.." she sniffled.

"What's going on?" I asked her softly.

"I-I... the police." She begin to hyperventilate.

"Huh?" I raised an eyebrow.

Did she get beat by some cops or something?

"What did the police—

She sobbed, straddling my lap.
