"Don't leave, it's my fault"

Lyriq POV
I yawned as I stretched before getting out of the bed. Today is Thursday August 15th which means only one day left until I can sleep in for 2 days straight.

I hate school so much and my mother won't let me drop out so I have to graduate. Then she's talking about she wants me to go to college because she saved up money and ain't finna waste it.

Girl I want a house and car, FUCK COLLEGE! Tf!

She has 200k in my account for me to go to Spelman. She's been saving since I was 3 months old, which is 17 years worth of savings. Which means she saved $35.014 a day for 17 years straight.

"Come on, Lyriq!" Mom yelled

Speak of the damn devil

"I'm sick ma!" I lied

"Girl, no the hell you not." She stomped up the stairs to my room

I actually am quite sick just not to where I need to miss school. I have a cough and my nose is runny. That's about it

"I cant go to school mom." I coughed

"Yes you can. Lyriq, you're not staying home. Go to school and make something of yourself. Do you wanna stay in the projects of Chicago forever?" She attempted to motivate me

"If I don't have to go to school, yea." I shrugged

"Lyriq no. You're gonn go to college, get a degree and you're gonna be rich and happy and buy me a nice big stupid ass mansion." She told me

"Mama." I groaned

"You're going, baby girl. You got so much potential, you can be whatever you want. Just believe in yourself." She told me

"I don't want to." I whined

"Lyriq Taylor, March your ass to the bathroom and wash up then take your ass downstairs so you can go to school!" Mom said sternly

"But mom..." I threw a fit

"Baby girl, you going to school to get your education then a diploma. After that, it's college. When you finish with college and high school, you're free! You know how much I wished I could be in your shoes? I had to raise my sister's kids since I was 11 years old, drop out of highschool junior year, didn't have money for college, and I was homeless all while going back to get my diploma. You don't have to live like that, I saved money for college, you got a place to stay, you don't got to raise no kids. Go to school!" She ranted

"Okay fine." I got out of bed

"Thank you baby girl. I'll see you later, have a good day at school." She side hugged me before leaving

I took a shower, scrubbing all the dirt off of my body. I rinsed off, lathered up with soap again, then rinsed off again. I stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around me before heading back into my room

I picked out pajama pants and a half shirt with crocs.

I'm too tired to dress up
