"Your inner view to me is something that I desire"
Billie POV
"That's very...disturbing, Billie." Victoria sat up.
She looked troubled.
"I can't believe someone would do that to her. The thing is; she said that she isn't going to tell anyone, because cops always win." I ranted.
"I wanna stop you here—I understand that this is...weighing on you. But, I just—I can't... hear this. Okay? I can't." Victoria stood up, walking out.
"Vic!" I called after her.
She was already steps ahead of me.
I chased after her.
She was crying in the bathroom.
"Are you okay? I'm sorry. I shouldn't have trauma-dumped. I promise it won't happen again-
"My college roommate was killed by...klan member cops. Back when we were in Mississippi." She told me.
"Oh." I paused.
Victoria sobbed.
"They... they violated her, hung her, burned her. We got to the coroner's office and couldn't even recognize her. They kept her bracelet. That was it." Victoria told me.
"I'm so sorry, Vic. I don't mean to trigger you." I apologized.
"It's...support her, Billie. Stay by her side. That's a horrific situation." Victoria choked.
"Okay." I nodded.
"She needs to make sure that cop goes under fire. He'll do it again. He's probably done it before. They don't do it once. He's probably got buddies with higher rank than him, protecting him." Victoria sniffled.
"I think she said his name was Cook." I replied.
"My friend, he works as an attorney. With her permission—verbal permission, I can get her a legal representative, and practitioners." Victoria told me.
"Okay.. I'll get her to sign and talk to them. She needs her justice. No man should violate a woman like that." I nodded.
"Okay, good. I apologize for walking out of our session like that—
"It's fine, Victoria. I understand. I'm so very sorry about your roommate." I expressed.
——
"Billie, I don't feel like that." Lyriq rolled her eyes, typing on her phone.
"Lyriq, I just want to make sure he's rightfully handled. I'm worried about other women's safety. He's a sick pervert." I told Lyriq.
"I don't want to press charges, Billie. End of story." She replied, typing herring increasingly louder.
"Who are you texting?" I asked her.
"Don't worry about it." She replied.
"Lyriq, you're not weak. You're not helpless. He knows that. But, he won't face any consequences—unless you take action." I told her.
"I don't...I don't even feel bad for it anymore." She mumbled.
"What?" I scrunched my face up.
"It's like... there's—not every person is like him." She told me.
"He sexually assaulted you, Lyriq." I scoffed.
"But.. it's not like I didn't like it. It's—I didn't like how he did it." She told me.
"What are you talking about?" I asked her.
"I mean...nothing." She sighed in defeat.
I gave her a side eye.
"Will you atleast just hear the attorney out? It's for the safety of other women. He's public safety. That's a lot of power, Lyriq." I eased.
"Sure." She gave in.
Her phone was chiming up a storm. She smiled at whomever texted her.
Kind of made me jealous—but, I don't matter right now. I want her safe. I want her heard. My girl needs her justice.
"I gotta get to the courthouse—the family court." She sprung out of bed.
"What's going on—
"My baby's coming home. They had an emergency court ordered transfer. Nasir is back!" She cheered.
"Oh, really? That's wonderful news. Congratulations. I'm very happy for you." I said, genuinely.
"Thank you, Billie." She tied her shoes up.
"Lyriq.." I started.
"Yeah?" She looked over at me.
"C-can I meet him?" I asked.
She thought about it for a second.
"Don't tell him what we have going on. It's not permanent. You and I...I just don't wanna confuse him. He's used to his father and I being a thing. You know how kids are." She replied.
"Okay." I nodded.
