Meeting in my bedroom~Silk
"So girl please don't be late"

Lyriq POV
"Ooh, girl—this is fire." I complimented whomever cooked the garlic Parmesan wings.

"Preciate it." A raspy, silky voice came from behind me.

I turned around—lo and behold, it was a FINE ass stud.

"Oh, you cooked this?" I asked her.

"Nah, I just wanted a reason to talk to you." She busted out laughing.

"Oh." I joined in on her laughter.

"Girl, I couldn't cook a pot of water." She added.

I was rolling.

Atleast she being honest.

"I'm Lyriq." I introduced.

"I'm Ray." She replied.

"Ray So Wavy if you wanna get nasty; because, I make the bitches oceans turn into a tsunami." She playfully winked.

I giggled.

"You're funny." I told her.

"I'm single too. You gotta know me to understand why." She said.

"Isn't that a bad thing?" I asked.

"Only if you scared of canines. I got that dog in me." She replied.

I giggled again.

"Oh, okay. Might have to call animal control, then—

"Nah, lil mama. I'm man's best-friend. Man just means person, though. So we best-friend with benefits—we both EBT Cards. Sought after hood trophies, type shit." She smooth talked.

I smiled.

"You act like an old nigga.." I told her.

"How you know an old nigga don't act like me?" She raised an eyebrow.

"Where you from?" I asked her.

"Detroit, my baby." She replied.

"Now I'm your baby?" I raised an eyebrow, amusingly.

"You my everything. Not on no Sexyy Red shit, on some Barry White shit." She replied.

"You got brains, mama. I like that." I replied.

"Daily affirmations—know what I'm saying?" She replied.

——
I was turning the locks, about to step in. Today was very eventful. But, in a fun way.

"Hey, Lyriq, wait up!" Billie sounded from behind me.

I rolled my eyes.

"Bitch, leave me the fuck alone." I gritted.

She shook her head.

"I'm very sorry for what I said, Lyriq. I actually mean it.. I had to take some time out to correct myself. What I said what fucked up; you didn't deserve to be spoken to like that.. I-I promise that it won't happen again. I give you, and a lot of other people—way too much smoke, forgetting that you're human too. Well, I give Black people too much smoke—t-that's something my therapist talked to me—

"So, some white bitch got you feeling like it's a deconstruct scene in a civil rights movie? I don't give a fuck." I spat.

"No.. my therapist is a Black woman. She kept it blunt with me, though." She scratched the back of her neck.

"But.. to finish.. I will never say that shit to you again. It was very uncalled for. I should've respected your boundaries, and not intruded. I h-hope...hope your situation is going better.. I'm not too well versed on it." She faltered.

I felt weight being lifted off of my shoulders. It was magical.

"You shouldn't have said it to begin with." I folded my arms, turning my nose up at her.

"I know. I know I shouldn't have had said it—but, I did. That's where I messed up. I felt like you used me for sex—even though that wasn't the case...but, I should've respected your decision. Your decision to stay single. It's just- ever since you told me that you aborted my child because I'm intersex: I've been more self conscious. Not to mention how people treated me when I was younger. But, nonetheless; this isn't about me. I just wanted to breakdown my behavior. I apologize to you, Lyriq." Billie ranted.

I looked away.

"Mm-hm." I felt a lump forming in my throat.

That's when I broke down—I cried.

"I'm sorry." She held me.

"They took my son; that's why I can't see him." I sniffled.

"Oh, I'm so sorry." She rubbed my back.

"I just want my baby back." I whimpered.

"I'm so sorry. It's okay, baby." She kissed my forehead.

"They took him from me. T-the day that I talked to you—when we were in the grocery store. I-I dropped him off at school." I tried to get out.

"Jeremiah called the police—t-they took his side," I recounted.

I could hear her sigh.

"I shouldn't have had thrown that shit in your face, Lyriq. That's horrible." She apologized.

I looked up at her; she had a genuine look of empathy. But, she looked so damn good.

The way she talked to me. She made me feel heard.

I placed a soft kiss on her lips.

She started kissing back, but then she stopped.

"You're hurting right now. I can't take advantage of you like that. I'll see you tomorrow at work." She hugged me tightly before walking off.

Huh?
