ON A FRIDAY NOON, the team winds down with some foam rollers and stretches. Chatter resounds through the weight room as Kageyama sits on the rubber mat near the windows, a foam roller pressed under his calves. He shifts slowly, rolling back and forth, the tension in his muscles giving way with each deliberate motion. Slow, controlled breaths escape his lips as he glances outside where the weather is chilly and cloudy, a stark contrast to the sweat and warmth on his skin. His black compression shirt is damp from this morning's training session, the taut fabric clinging to the lean lines of his torso and the curves of his back with every stretch. With every move, he's too focused on his reps to even notice someone approaching him.
"Yo, Kageyama."
A voice cuts in and the raven haired male stops mid stretch, glancing up with brows slightly furrowed to see Hoshiumi looking down at him. Sweat dripped down his temples, shirt damp like his and no doubt a little winded from being partnered up with Sokolov. That man liked to do his drills a little differently.
"Hoshiumi-san," He says simply, returning his focus to the roller.
"Did your apartment burn down or something? Your phone's been buzzing non-stop," Hoshiumi points to the bench where bottles of drinks sat. "Might wanna check it out."
His brows furrowed at that. Kageyama's circle was small, a fact reflected easily in his contact list. Anyone who was more or less a casual acquaintance was usually handled by the team's manager. Those who knew him understood that calls and messages during training hours went unanswered—they left a message and waited for him to respond when he was free. So these incessant attempts could only mean one of two things: either it was an emergency, or someone was really desperate to get through to him.
With a grunt, he sets the foam roller aside and stands, giving Hoshiumi a quick nod of thanks before jogging toward the bench. Kageyama spots his phone beside his half drunk sports drink, still buzzing. An unknown number flashes on the screen, making his brows furrow further. For a moment, he hesitates, a fleeting thought of his phone number being leaked on the internet and this was some fan calling crossing his mind, but it could also be an emergency on the other hand.
