"YOU'RE WHAT?"
Like a possessed woman, Mina charges across her room with a single-minded focus, arms piled with clothes while Cha Bomin watches in bewilderment. The bedroom looked like the wake of a tornado with clothes tossed over the bed, a hulking suitcase open on the floor, and makeup kits scattered recklessly across the vanity. Bomin wasn't sure what had come over Mina. The moment the clock struck midnight and her promotions officially ended—barely a minute after she stepped back into her apartment—it was as if something in her snapped awake. She marched straight into her room, not even pausing to think, flinging open cabinets and drawers and hurling clothes onto the bed. And so here they were now, watching Mina calmly fold her clothes, as though the disaster zone behind her had nothing to do with her at all.
"What? Don't act surprised, Unnie," Mina said, shooting her manager a funny look as she tucked the clothes neatly into her luggage. "I did say that once promotions end, I'm off to see my husband."
This really shouldn't have come as a surprise to Bomin. Mina had never once been secretive about her relationship with Kageyama, and ever since her latest release took off, she'd been begging Mr. Yoo for a break—just for two weeks, just enough time to see him. But of course, nothing could ever be that straightforward in her world. If Mina vanished, fans would implode into conspiracy threads and a full documentary series. And then there was the minor issue of her being internationally recognizable—hard to stay low-key when your face is literally plastered on billboards. Add the ticking time bomb of a potential dating scandal if she was caught so much as breathing near Kageyama, and suddenly her relaxing getaway started to look more like an undercover mission.
Mina, however, could not be bothered. Maybe the fresh-out-of-high-school Mina would've panicked over rumors, headlines, and career fallout—but current Mina? Current Mina had reached the enlightened stage of "If they love me, they'll support me." In her mind, any true fan would support her life choices, including her right to sprint across the world to kiss Kageyama and have dates with him peacefully in public. Management, of course, operated on a different frequency—one made of panic, caution, and lots of ulcer medication. Mr. Yoo wasn't entirely opposed, but the way he sighed every time Mina mentioned "Kageyama" suggested he was already envisioning the future press releases, apology letters, and two-month damage control plans.
