"Lauren?"
"Lauren!?" Josh called as he clicked his fingers in front of my face.
"Huh, what?" I said as I snapped out of thought.
"You stopped talking and just froze. You looked scared, are you ok?"
"Umm yeah I'm fine" I lied looking away.
"Hmm, we'll did you want me to pick anything up from your house?"
"No!" I blurted out. "Um I mean, no thank you" I kept my eyes on the floor, avoiding eye contact.
"Lauren, what's wrong? Is everything ok at home?"
Oh no, he can't find out. "Yeah, everything's fine." I lied again forcing a smile.
"Hmm" he replied. He didn't seem to be falling for it.
"Oh I got you something." He said whilst passing me bag.
Inside I found a couple of magazines, some chocolates, some books and DVD's.
"Oh, cool thanks Josh" I thanked him. I picked up a dvd. "The notebook....really" I said while laughing.
"What? It's a classic, makes me cry everytime." He said while pretending to cry.
I laughed even harder. As he went to put the film on a tall, thin woman with her black hair tied back into a ponytail walked into the room
"Hello there, Lauren right? I'm Amanda, from social services. I just need to ask you a few questions."
Social services? What!?....
