I woke up that Saturday morning with Josh's arms wrapped around my waist. I felt like i had known him for ages. It made me smile knowing that he was here with me. I thought about what happened yesterday, with the social worker. I was worried abut what would happen today. At some point she would come back. Would she put me in a care home? Would she let me go back home to my abusive parents? Maybe i should have told her about them. Hmm
"Lauren, you awake?" Josh asked from behind me.
"Yeah I'm awake." I smiled.
"Did you sleep ok?"
"Yeah fine thanks. I haven't slept that well in a while...." My voice trailed off.
He laughed. Damn he had a cute laugh.
He got up from the bed and stretched his arms, yawning.
"I'm going downstairs to get some breakfast, I'll bring you up something."
"Thanks" I said.
While he was gone a nurse came in to check on how I was, she put a film on while I waited.
He soon arrived back holding 2 bacon sandwiches and 2 cups of coffee.
We passed the time eating breakfast, chatting and watching the film, until it was time to speak to social services again....

"Hi Lauren. How are you feeling?' Amanda asked.
"Um fine, I guess." I replied.
"Good, good. Well, Lauren, I'm afraid I can't send you home until we've sorted out what we are going to do. So maybe you have a friend you could stay with?"
I looked down. I had no friends except from Josh.
"She can stay with me." Josh said from behind her.
"Great, so we'll contact you when we know what's going on. Goodbye." Amanda said.
And after that she was gone. Like everything she had just said meant nothing to her.
"Well that went quick" I said slowly exhaling. 'Thanks Josh."
He walked over to me and held onto my hand. "You'll be fine." He said, gently squeezing it.
