P.O.V: Rose Tyler

We climbed down the ladder into a brick built area with lots of chains hanging and draped everywhere. From there we went through a door and down a flight of steps, into a multi level chamber.

"The Nestene Consciousness. That's it, inside the vat. A living plastic creature." I looked down and saw a huge blob of flexing, writhing, moving plastic. It was horrific.

"Well then, tip in your anti-plastic and let's go." We better get this over with and go.

"I'm not here to kill it, I'm here to give it a chance." The Doctor walked down to catwalk overlooking the Nestene, or whatever it was called.

"I seek audience with the Nestene Consciousness under peaceful contract according to convention 15 of the Shadow Proclamation."

The stuff in the vat flexed and made a hideous growling noise.

"Thank you. If I might have permission to approach?"

I glanced over and saw a figure huddled on a lower level and ran down to see. It was Mickey!

"Oh, God! Mickey! It's me, it's okay. It's alright!" I grabbed his hand and pulled him up, and he pointed towards the stuff in the vat.

"That thing down there, the liquid, it can talk!" He was hearing things, he must be!

"You're stinking. Doctor, they kept him alive!"

"Yeah, that was always a possibility. Keep him alive to maintain a copy."

Anger boiled in my stomach. Who was the Doctor!?!

"You knew that and you never said!" I shouted.

"Can we keep the domestics outside, thank you."

I took Mickey up to the level above where the Doctor was and watched from above.

"Am I addressing the Consciousness? Thank you. If I might observe, you infiltrated this civilization by means of warp shunt technology. So, may I suggest with the greatest respect, that you shunt off?"

Maybe he could communicate with this plastic stuff. A sort of face formed in the plastic and another growl could be heard.

"Oh don't give me that. It was an invasion, plain and simple. Don't talk about constitutional rights! I am talking! This planet is just starting. These stupid little people have only just learned how to walk, but they're capable of so much more. I'm asking you on their behalf. Please, just go."

Behind him I spotted two shop dummies approaching behind the Doctor.

"Doctor!" I called to him, but it was too late.

The pair of dummies grabbed him and held him in place, and one of them took the anti-plastic vial out of his jacket pocket.

"That was just insurance! I wasn't going to use it! I was not attacking you, I'm here to help. I'm not your enemy, I swear I'm not. What do you mean?"

I turned as the Doctor did and saw the Tardis above him on an upper level.

"No. Oh no. Honestly, no. Yes that's my ship. That's not true. I should know, I was there. I fought in the war. It wasn't my fault! I couldn't save your world, I couldn't save any of them!"

I didn't know what the Doctor was talking about, but I did notice something else.

"What's it doing?" The plastic stuff was writhing and growling more than it had been before.

"The Tardis, the Nestene's identified it as superior technology. It's terrified. It's going to the final phase. It's starting the invasion! Get out Rose! Just leg it now!"
