Sailub stood in the doorway with a faintly puzzled expression, one hand still resting on the knob.
Inside the room, three pairs of eyes were fixed on him so intensely that he almost checked himself over to see if something was wrong with his clothes.
"...Why is everyone staring at me?" he asked slowly.
Sailom blinked, then let out a short chuckle. "We thought it was our moms walking in."
Sailub's brows furrowed deeper as he stepped inside and closed the door behind him. "That explains the panic," he muttered. Then he looked around at all of them. "Does anyone actually know why our moms summoned all four of us here?"
Zo shook his head. "No idea."
He patted the empty spot beside him on the couch. "Sit. Before you make it obvious you are nervous."
Sailub slumped down beside Zo with a sigh. "What were you three doing that you were scared of getting caught?"
Zo laughed lightly. "Nothing. Your Phi Chaai was just telling us about the trouble in his paradise."
Sailom grinned. "Seriously, what I don't understand is how Fah is having issues with Jui of all people."
Saifah's gaze flickered up briefly, but he didn't respond.
Sailom continued, leaning back. "I mean, Jui is literally the easiest person to please. Hopeless romantic. Finds joy in small things. You give him a warm drink and a sincere compliment and he would probably write poetry about it."
Zo snorted.
"And knowing Fah," Sailom added, "it's strange that Jui hasn't already fallen head over heels. Instead, he is resisting like Fah is some kind of plague."
Saifah's jaw tightened. "It might be because of the rough start we had."
Sailub frowned, a thought striking him. "Is it because of me and Sak, Phi? I mean... is it because of what happened at the party?"
Saifah immediately shook his head. "No. Don't blame yourself. It's not your fault things aren't going well between me and Jui."
Zo scoffed dramatically. "If anyone is in trouble because of Lub and Sak, it's me."
The others turned to him.
Zo rubbed the back of his neck. "The other day... during the birthday party... your mom slipped up. She mentioned that Lub likes Sak."
Sailub stiffened.
"And Nai heard," Zo finished.
Sailom's head snapped toward him.
Zo's expression turned sheepish. "Nai interrogated me that night."
Sailom immediately sat up straighter. "Did you tell him everything?"
Zo scratched his head awkwardly. "Not... everything."
Sailom's eyes narrowed dangerously. "Zo."
"I told him Lub was Sak's ex," Zo admitted quickly.
Sailom facepalmed so hard it echoed.
Sailub looked like all the blood had drained from his face. His fingers curled into the fabric of his pants.
"How did P' Nai react?" Sailub asked quietly.
Zo hesitated. "He didn't react much. But..." He grimaced. "He didn't look happy."
Sailub frowned. "Why?"
Zo spread his hands helplessly. "I don't know. But I know Nai. He is calm until he is not. If he finds out what actually happened between you and Sak at the party..."
