Nai's lips were pressed into a thin line as he stared at the thick stack of legal documents spread across the small wooden table inside Aum's flower shop.
The afternoon sunlight filtered through the glass windows, casting warm golden patterns over the shop's interior. The scent of fresh lilies, roses, and eucalyptus lingered heavily in the air, mixing with the faint aroma of coffee from the café next door.
Across from Nai, Jui calmly flipped through another set of papers.
Everything had been organized neatly into labeled folders. Permits, registration forms, tax documentation, licensing applications—Jui had prepared every single thing with terrifying efficiency.
Nai rubbed his forehead tiredly.
Jui adjusted his glasses slightly before speaking. "I have already submitted the applications for most of the permits," he explained. "The rest are pending approval."
Nai nodded quietly.
Jui continued, "There may be some friction because of Khun Moo's family trying to interfere, but it shouldn't become a major problem." His tone remained calm and professional. "I will handle it."
Nai looked at him for a long second before quietly saying, "Thank you."
Before Jui could answer, Aum returned carrying three iced coffees in a cardboard tray. He placed them dramatically onto the table. "Please," he declared, "take a chill pill and stop looking like the world is ending."
Nai let out a small laugh despite himself.
Jui nodded in agreement. "These procedures take time. That's normal."
"I know," Nai admitted softly. He leaned back in his chair and stared blankly at the ceiling for a second. "I am just not used to havng nothing to do."
Aum immediately looked offended. "Excuse you," he said dramatically. "My flower shop has plenty of work."
Nai laughed again.
"I am serious," Aum continued. "I have just been going easy on you because you are still new."
Nai shook his head fondly. "I didn't mean there is no work here," he clarified. "It's just..." He paused, trying to find the right words. "This isn't the kind of work I am used to."
Aum and Jui exchanged glances immediately. They understood exactly what Nai meant.
Nai had always been someone who thrived under pressure. Deadlines. Chaos. Last-minute changes. Clients panicking five minutes before events. Constant calls. Constant movement. That had been Nai's entire life for years.
"I am used to rushing around," Nai admitted quietly. "I am used to pressure and unpredictable problems." A faint smile appeared on his lips. "I liked the challenge." He looked around the peaceful flower shop helplessly. "But working here is... too peaceful."
Aum chuckled softly. "This reminds me of my dad after retirement," he commented casually.
Nai immediately looked at him in disbelief. "Did you seriously just compare me to your father?"
Jui laughed quietly. "That's not what he meant," Jui said. "He means you are in a similar situation."
Nai frowned lightly.
Jui leaned back in his chair. "You already know what you want to do next," he continued. "There is just some waiting time before you can officially start." He shrugged lightly. "So maybe you should use this time to rest."
Aum nodded enthusiastically. "Exactly." He pointed at Nai accusingly. "You got married recently and haven't even gone on a honeymoon."
Nai blinked.
