Divya's POV
The weeks we spent on this trips have honestly been some of the best of my life. But as everything, it had to end. I had a job to come back to and even Elizabeth couldn't keep postponing meetings, so much of that resulted in her having to go back to Chicago instead of Vancouver with me like we had planned.
To both of our disappointments.
"I'll be back in no time, I promise. I just have some important meetings with investors to attend. Then I'll be back in the first flight to Vancouver so we can go and meet your parents." Elizabeth said over the phone as I searched for my keys in my bag.
"I know, stop worrying Elizabeth, is fine. I know you have many responsibilities." I put the keys on the lock and opened the door.
She sighed. "Are you home now?"
"Entering." I took the keys out and closed the door.
"Okay, I'll leave you so you can rest. I love you." Elizabeth smiled at me through face time. Her words still making my chest flutter.
"I'll call you later, I love you." I hung up first and my soul almost jumped out of my body when I realized there was people here... other than Kaden.
Grey eyes met my brown ones as the familiar woman on my couch waved awkwardly at me as she ate a can of pringles. "Sorry for scaring you, Kaden said you were on vacation. She's showering."
"Morgan, right?" I asked not wanting to confuse the name. I had only met her once during our last Christmas. She was nice but we had talked like once.
She nodded, "Nice to see you again Divya. Want some?" She said offering me her chips.
"No thanks, how come you are here? Not that I mind." I left my luggage by the door and went to the couch to accompany her.
"Kaden was feeling lonely since you left for vacation. You know, she's still depressed about Jessie so I had to come here and stop her for attempting to do anything crazy." Morgan explained like it was nothing out of the ordinary.
"I didn't think I would be gone for as long as I was. But thank you for coming all the way here... I thought she was better now." I couldn't help but feel guilty, I should've checked on Kaden more than I did.
"So did I, don't feel bad, Kaden's a big girl. Eventually another girl... or guy, will come and swept her off her feet." Morgan said that so confidently that I almost believed her. But she hadn't lived through Kaden's heartbreak, not really, not like I had.
I don't think Kaden is getting her over for a long time. I can just hope that she eventually does.
"Let's hope you are right." I looked down at my phone ringing, but it was just Jen texting me if I was home yet. I noticed Morgan quickly looking away from my phone—no surprise as my lock screen was a picture of Elizabeth and I in front of the Big Ben.
Morgan acted like I hadn't seen her staring at it. "So... I heard you and Elizabeth are a thing now."
"Kaden told you."
"Kaden told me." Morgan confirmed. "I don't mean to make things awkward, I just wanted to say that I'm happy for the both of you. Elizabeth deserves to be happy... love hasn't being really fair to her in life. So I'm glad you two found each other."
Morgan's words were sweet, but I didn't know what to say really. I didn't know Morgan that well and I know her and Elizabeth had history —not very good history— from what I know.
But it was the intention that counted, so I appreciated her kindness.
"Thank you." I responded—earning a smile with a nod from her.
