Chapter 12

On Christmas Eve, I was picked up by Damara to head over to Roxy's house. Well, it was really Rose's, but Rose and her mother allowed her to have friends over while they did whatever in their large house. It will be everyone's first time there, except for Dirk, but he's so indifferent about most things I'm sure he'd treat it like his own home.

But before we arrived, we had to pick up Sollux, who's own family were too busy to drive him to Roxy's. But it was fine. Damara couldn't speak well constructed sentences in English and sometimes she was a little too perverted to handle, so having Sollux in the car could turn some of the heat onto him.

"Thank'th for picking me up, Darmara. I would have taken the bu'th, but I didn't know where Roxy'th hou'the wa'th and I didn't have time to look it up," he said. He shut the door, and gave me a nod in greeting before he turned towards his music. Damn you, Captor!!!! I had been squished into the middle of the truck and had our driver's wiggling eyebrows in my face.

The ride was shorter then I thought it would be. Considering how rich the Lalonde's were, I figured that they would be somewhere near Vriska's place instead of near Sollux's. But this just meant that we didn't have to go too far to reach her house.

I could already see Eridan's car parked in the driveway, meaning that someone had arrived before us.

Damara, Sollux, and I stepped out of the truck once it was turned off, already hearing the loud and pounding music that seemed to shake the the windows of the Lalonde Mansion.

"How loud do they have to be? It's only 7 o'clock!" I exclaimed.

"だから〜、後であなたのうめき声を非表示にすることができます!" Damara purred. She got really close to my face, a smirk present on her ruby red lips. I blushed, of course, since most of us knew that whatever came out of her mouth was only something weird or dirty.

"Whatever. I'm heading in th'o you girl'th do whatever you want to do out here. Ju'th't make th'ure to not embara'th anyone," Sollux said. He stalked off towards the front door and I scrambled after him with a snickering Megido sauntering behind me.

We rung the doorbell, considering it would possibly be the only thing heard over the loud music. I just hoped that they would and we wouldn't be stuck out in the cold. I love snow as much as the next person, but I don't feel like it's my time to be frozen and dead just yet.

The door opened only a few seconds later, a stoic Strider and giggling Lalonde on the other side. Roxy's face seemed to brighten more then it already was when she saw us, practically radiating light. She was holding a clear beverage in her hand and I couldn't tell if it was actually water or vodka. If it was actually alcohol, I wonder how she got it past the never blind eye of Dirk Strider.

"I'm so glad you guys made it! I was worried that we'd have to start everything without you! I mean, Kankri even arrived before you," she laughed.

"Yes, because I'm always late for you people, as it seems. Though, you do realize that I have to make sure everything is in order at home so I don't trigger my father or brother in anyway by leaving anything astray while I'm gone and come back to an enraged father and annoyed little brother,"  Kankri spoke up. He popped up behind the two, startling most of us. "And please, could we turn down the loud music. I'm afraid we could cause a ruckus in such a nice neighborhood and be hated for what may seem eternity and I do not wish to have some ill feelings directed towards any of you because of something like music."

"Oh, you don't have to worry about that, Kanny!" Roxy slung an arm around Kankri's shoulders, startling him and made him look very uncomfortable. I had to hide my laughter because it was rare to see him this unsettled. Well, okay, I take that back. I've seen worse.
