Chapter 8

Sydney's POV:
"Sydney, wake up!" Lauren said shaking me.
"I'm up!" I said sitting up and opening my eyes.
"Good. Come on we gotta go get breakfast." She said skipping toward the door.
"Hold up, lemme get dressed. " I said walking over to my closet. I grabbed a cute skater dress and through it on. I put on some sneaker wedges, and put my hair in a ponytail, then we walked out the door. We reached the kitchen and grabbed our plate of food before we sat down by the docks and ate.
"So obviously that date with Calum went good last night." Lauren says taking a bite of her waffle.
"Yeah, it did. I'll show you where it was." I say standing up and walking around the lake. She followed and we reached the tree house.
"No way! That must've been so romantic. " Lauren says from the bottom of treehouse. Meanwhile I climbed to the top.
"Come on! Don't you wanna see the view from the top?" I ask while she starts climbing.
"Hold on, I'm climbing, I'm climbing. " she says once she reached the top.
"Wow, this is really, really nice." She says looking around the room.
"Isn't it?" I said opening up the sky roof.
"That's just made it even better!" She exclaimed.
"Okay now I get why that almost happened." She says looking at me.
"Yeah. " I sigh.
"Let's go back down. We're not really supposed to be up here. " I say walking back to the doorway. We go back down and walk back to the house.
"Where were you two?" Michael asks awfully girl like, leaning on the counter.
"The docks. " I say plainly.
"Oh. I thought you guys took the trail. " he says sitting up and walking away.
"What trail?" Lauren asks me.
" there's a trail somewhere but Luke never showed it to me. " I say as we head back upstairs to our rooms.

We stayed in our rooms all day, just talking.
"Knock, knock." Calum says opening the door.
"Hey. " I said sitting up.
"Where've you guys been all day?" He asks.
"Nowhere. We just stayed in our rooms. " Lauren answers.
"Oh. " was all he said.
"We should do something tonight. " I say.
"Um, uh, yeah, tonight? Tonight won't work for me. I have um, stuff. " Calum says kinda awkwardly.
"Oh, okay. " I said as he walks out the door.
"So yesterday, I went exploring and I found this closet. It has a peep hole and it's empty. If you want we can spy on him and see if he actually has 'stuff ' going on. " Lauren says standing up.
"Okay, let's go. " I say standing up.
"Wait. How about I go and hide in the forest by the treehouse and you stay there?" Lauren asks as we reach the closet. Nobody's here so it works out.
"Okay. " I said getting into the closet.

After what felt like forever Calum and some girl walked through the door from the direction of the tree house. Lauren sent me a text.
L: *barfs* dump his sorry ass. U don't even wanna know.
S: okay yeah I'm seeing what ur'e seeing.
I put my phone down and watch them. He kisses her first. God what have I gotten myself into. Great. Now they're making out. And he's walking over to a door. Wait. No it can't be. Yep it's a bedroom.
I slide down the wall behind me and curl up in a ball. Placing my head on my knees. I actually liked Cal, but I guess he didn't feel the same way.
"But you can't hookup with fans. " I heard her say.
"So? For you, I'd break those rules. " he said as she giggled. God this makes me sick. I was such a fool, why would a famous person like me? I couldn't help it I cried, and I cried. I actually liked him. I heard the closet door open.
"Lauren, when we decided to do this I never thought this would happen." I say from my knees. When no one answered I looked up to meet Luke's eyes.
"I tried, I tried warning you." Was all he said, extending his hand out to me. I took it and stood up, falling into his arms. He took me up stairs to my room and I sat on my bed, he just stood there awkwardly.
"I interrupted you two on purpose. I didn't want him to make you feel used. He did it the first night too. Before he knows it every girl in this camp'll hate him. " he said sitting next to me.
"Yeah, that's gonna suck. " I said laughing.
"Yeah it is. " he says laughing with me.
"Why have you been such a jerk lately?" I ask him.
"I just got kinda jealous and protective over you when I found out that you were going out with Cal." He says.
"Yeah, I'm so dumping him. " I say, I saw him smile.
"I liked you, that first day we met. " I said.
"I like you too. " he said smiling again.
"No I liked you. Then you went and hooked up with some girl. " I scoffed.
"Right. In my defense I was drunk. " he says as we both stand up.
"Exactly, I think we're better off as friends. " I say as soon as he goes to the hallway, I stay in my room.
"I'm confused. " he says.
"Why? You've just been friend zoned. " I say closing the door in his face. Did I really just do that?
