Chapter 17

Sydney's POV:
After about an hour more of swimming with Lauren, Michael, and Luke, I decided to get out and dry off. Sunset was already approaching and we still needed to eat and wish Luke a happy birthday. Plus I'm sure most of the girls have something for him. I also heard we're getting a new counselor to replace Calum. Something about 10 girls and three boys didn't sound right to the government.

"So what cake did you get him?" Lauren asked as we began walking upstairs.
"Well, it's a cookies and cream ice cream cake. But it's gigantic so everyone can have some. " I said opening the door to our room and closing it behind us.
"Sounds perfect. You really are good at this girlfriend thing. " she responded grabbing a towel and entering her bathroom.
"I hope you're right. " I said grabbing mine and entering my bathroom. I took a quick shower and changed into a cute skater dress.

It was white and had a opaque sweet heart neckline. However the top half of it was entirely lace, it even had short lace sleeves. It was quite possibly the best dress I owned. I also wore some black converse high tops, and put my hair into a loose braid.

Lauren wore something similar. Her outfit consisting of a black skater skirt and a nice grey tank top. But she also kept it casual by wearing some black vans.

We walked downstairs and outside to the boys, who were still swimming.
"You're wearing the dress!" Luke said as he looked at me.
"Luke, I love this dress so much, you don't even know. " I said squaring down so I could meet his height from the pool.
"Well I hope I'd know. I'm the one that got it for you, after all. I saw it and instantly thought it looked like something you'd wear. " he said resting his head in the palm of his hand.
"You have some excellent taste in fashion," I said kissing him quickly.
"Now then, you need to go get ready, both of you. " I said as Lauren talked to Michael.
"Yes, mum." Michael replied as the two boys both got out of the pool.
"Shut up. " Lauren said smacking him in the arm.
"Ouch!" He exclaimed. Lauren glared at him and he left as well as Luke to go get ready.
"Guys, are such a handful. " she said crossing her arms over her chest.
"Yeah, but they're pretty freakin adorable. " I responded as we walked inside.

In thirty minutes, we had set up everything; the cake, the pizza, decorations, and punch. Lauren of course had to add a little something to the punch.
The boys finally came down along with all the other girls and we finally sang happy birthday to Luke.
"Thank you for doing all of this. " he said hugging me.
"Luke, if do anything for you. " I said smiling. He kissed me quickly before greeting everyone else at the party. I grabbed my third cup of the punch began dancing to all the music with Lauren. We were terrible dancers, but we were having fun and that's all that counts.

"I love this song!" I said dancing to Don't Stop. Of course I said that, it's my boyfriends song.
"Me too!" Lauren squealed as Michael put his arms around her hips.
"Ugh, can't you two be coupley somewhere else?" I said talking to Lauren and Michael, who are now making out.
"Yup!" Lauren said smirking. Michael took her hand and lead he rout of the room, and upstairs. Great, I hope that stays in his room.
Well now I'm all alone. I thought to myself. I couldn't even find Luke, but that was okay because Ashton came out of no where and danced with me. The song changed to Bonkers. At this point in the song the bass was just pounding. Making the room feel like a club. Out of no where I felt hands wrap around my waist, the stench of alcohol breathing down my neck. I turned my head and met Luke's blue eyes. Instantly I kissed him.
"Happy birthday!" I said when I pulled back.
"It sure is." He said kissing me again this time turning me around so I faced him. He placed his hands on my hips as I wrapped mine around his neck.
"Well, you two enjoy whatever the hell is happening there. " Ashton said walking away. I pulled away from Luke and just laughed at Ashton's comment.
"You have some interesting friends. " I said laughing some more.
"Yeah, I do. " he said laughing with me.
"I'll be back. " I said walking away and grabbing another cup. This'll be my fifth, I think. I'll admit I'm actually starting to feel something, I'm actually able to handle alcohol. I stumbled back over to Luke and sat my cup down on the table.
"This is my fifth, how many have you had?" I said as we sat down.
"Um, I lost count after the penguin handed me one. " he said obviously drunk.
"Oh, yeah, that makes a lot of sense. " I said laughing.
"I know it makes sense, that's why i said it!" He said placing his hand on my shoulder, almost trying to get me to realize he was right although he wasn't.
"Okay, whatever makes you happy. " I said copying his action and placing my arm on his shoulder.
"You make me happy. " he said leaning his head against mine.
"And you make me happy. " I said smiling.
"I love you. " he blurted out.
"Awe Luke, that's so cute but I'm sure you don't mean that. You're really really drunk, okay baby?" I said playing with his hair.
"I do mean it! It's only if you don't say it back, I just wanted you to know I love you. Like, a lot. " he said playing with my fingers.
"I'll say it back when when we're both sober. Okay?" I said entwining our hands together.
"Okay! I'll hold you against that, you know?" He said giving me puppy dog eyes.
"I'll count on it. " I said resting my head against his.

Eventually everyone went upstairs except for me and Luke. Luke was only here because he ended up falling asleep, and I was still down here because I was waiting for the new counselor to arrive. I've been waiting an hour, which means he should be here any minute now.

Luke began to stir in his sleep and before I knew it he was awake.
"Eck, I feel terrible. I have the worst taste in my mouth! Ew, get it out, get it out!" He exclaimed getting up.
"Ouch!" He shouted deeply placing his hands on the back of his head.
"Babe, why don't you brush your teeth upstairs? I'll have an Advil sitting down here and a glass of water for you when you come back down, yeah?" I said as he stared at me.
"Yeah, okay. " he said walking upstairs.
After two minutes he returned, and gulped down the Advil.
"How many drinks did I have?" He asked rubbing his temple.
"Well for starters, you said you lost count once the penguin have you one. And then you were babbling on about your feeling for me. " I said checking the time. It was officially 2:30 am.
"Oh shit. I didn't say anything embarrassing did I? When I'm drunk I tell the truth and nothing but the truth. Please tell me I didn't embarrass myself. " he said looking at me. My fave began to heat up. If he tells the truth when he's drunk then he really does love me. Awe Luke loves me. Before I could say anything I heard the door bell.
"Hold that thought. " I said holding a finger up and walking to the door to answer it. I twisted the door knob and greeted who it was.
"Hi, you must be the new councilor. I'm Sydney. " I said smiling as the boy retrieved his bag from the concrete. Not even bothering to look up once, but once he did I just wanted to curl up in a ball in the corner and cry.
"Isaac?" I said as my heart dropped.
