"How many times I got to tell you? He don't even see you. You see I'm really helping you. I'm keeping you from looking a fool."
Salomé's P.O.V.
I arrived at work the next day with mixed emotions due to the events of last night. I assumed Trevon wanted to talk to me, then all of a sudden he has to go? I shouldn't be overthinking things, since he's only my boss, but I can't act like it didn't hurt a little. Passing the front desk, I frowned as I noticed Mrs V's absence, with another woman standing in her place. Not wanting to say anything as I already had my own problems, I carried my daily box of papers and proceeded towards the lift. Not paying much attention to the blonde woman walking opposite me, our shoulders collided, which caused me to almost drop my load.
"Jesus-!" I gasped, using the tips of my fingers to clasp the edges of the box. "Mind where you're going!"
Flicking her hair to one side, revealing a very distinguishable birthmark, the blonde folded her arms and raised her eyebrows in a nonchalant manner.
"How about you don't bump into me?" She snapped, obnoxiously popping her gum. "You think you're so hot, being the new secretary, but, sugar, you're not."
"Excuse me?" I questioned, frowning at her unnecessary rudeness. She knew who I was, but this woman in front of me was a stranger, and one thing I don't tolerate is disrespect towards me, especially people who I didn't know and vice versa.
"You heard me," She hissed, shifting closer so as to not attract attention from others. "Just because he's hired you as his PA doesn't mean you're the shit. I've been here since the beginning. I know Mr Baxter, and believe me, he knows me."
At this point, her arms moved to her hips, whilst her scowl broke out into a smirk. I just started this job, and there was already someone out for me?
"And who are you?" I chuckled, not even fazed by her snearing.
"I'm Becky. Becky Cave. Ask Mr Baxter about me," She boasted, crinkling her eyes revealing deep wrinkles around the edges. "I'm sure he'll keep you well informed."
Not wanting to keep this conversation going, as it was making me late. Observing her smug self, I reciprocated her nasty smirk with my own before answering.
"Well, Becky. If Trevon really gave you the time of day you say he does, you'd be in my position, don't you think?" I watched her eyes widen, before continuing. "I never insinuated that I was the shit, so where you got that theory from; truthful nonetheless; I know not."
"You... You said his-" She squeaked, her face flushed, her pale pigment now having the appearance of a beetroot.
"Name? Yes I did. For your information, Miss Cave, instead of worrying about other people's relationship with their boss, how about you worry about finishing your work and learning how to mind your own business."
Her eyes were suddenly filled with rage, as she gave an inaudible gasp, and raised her hand towards her chest in a melodramatic attempt to conceal her fury.
"You... You bitch-!"
"Miss Cave!"
The both of us whipped our head around to see Trevon striding towards us. He gave the both of us a stern look, and I had to admit he did appear frightening. Biting my lip, my previous confidence swiftly disappeared as fast as it came. When he reached us, he gazed into my eyes, where I noticed the colour of his pupil darken, from a lighter shade of brown to a darker bronze. I was fixated by his stare, and my body was also responding to him. Slowly, I loosened the grip of my bottom lip from my teeth and watched his gaze move towards them, evoking a mass of butterflies at the pit of my stomach. Interrupted by Cave's soft clearing of her throat, Trevon shut his eyes for a moment before turning his body to face her. I used this opportunity to pick up my work from the floor, so I could busy myself and not appear as if I wanted to hear their conversation. And see her squirm under his presence like I do.
