"I'm serious, are you sure you don't have an illness or something?"

Angel asked with his hands on his hips. I, on the other hand, stared at him with narrowed eyes.

"I'm sure."

"Then how come he hasn't awaken?"

"How the hell am I supposed to know why?!"

"Because you were the last one to be with him before he got like this."

"So?!"

He shook his head and returned to his seat right next to David.

"His whole throat still looks purple."

I shrugged, obviously not going to answer since he would bring up the same thing again.

I sat on the edge of the bed, my eyes on David's sleeping face.

"As long as he doesn't die, I won't have to kill you."

Angel playfully whispered.

"What? You would kill me if he were to die?!"

"He's my Alpha."

"I was your Alpha before he was, you bastard"

"Don't worry, I would kill whoever killed you if you were still Alpha."

"You bastard."

"I would!"

"Can't you just give him some of your poison?"

"I wished I could, but since I don't know what is wrong with him, I can't."

We both stood up like if in cue, our direction towards the room's door.

"What is she doing here?"

I asked under my breath. My hands were unintentionally turning into fists, my heart speeding up.

"I don't know."

The door flew open, David's mother coming in uninvitedly.

"What's wrong with him?! David? David!"

She hugged her sleeping son in her arms, Angel immediately taking her arms away.

"I can't risk his health. Not even you touching him ma'am."

"He's my son! Why can't I touch my own son?!"

"His sickness is unknown to me. I have no cure."

Her head turned back to me, her menacing eyes cursing at me.

"Leave. Get out of my sight."

"Why should I?"

I crossed my arms in front of me, leaning against the bed for support.

"Now. Leave."

She walked closer to me, her features darkening.

"I think I'll stay."

"I'll drag you out of this room if I have to."

I stood up straight, matching her stance.

"I'll like to see that happen."

"I'll personally kick you both out if either one of you make a move. I won't hesitate to do it. My Alpha comes before you both. I'll make any necessary actions for his sake."

Angel warned as he separated us.

"I'm his mother. I have to stay. She's nothing to him."

"Wrong. I'm his mate."
