Honestly, when I first entered this fanfic into the contest, I didn't exactly know what to expect or where this would even end up. I knew it was good, but I didn't know how good.
Well, guess I know now.
Still, I kind of find it fitting that the one whose comments pretty much powered me through this entire fanfic all the way to the end and beyond (in the sequel Hearts Crossed and across a lot of other Colton/Kayla related fanfics too), squirrelmonkey123 , ended up getting first place in the contest.
After all the support I've gotten from them in writing this thing and how good they write their fanfics, it's well deserved. If anything, I guess you call them the fuel that fanned the flames of what I decided to do in my final semester of college.
Also, special thank you to the Judges for being well.. the kind souls that you all are. Thanks a lot for that.
But if anything, I don't really know what else to even say about this. There's only so many words I can write here and I'm pretty sure I've used almost all of them by this point — particularly since I'm knee deep in a fusion fanfic involving the Percy Jackson verse and Ever After High with the same pairing from this fanfic (Colton and Kayla) taking center stage.
I'm still doing updates on the sequel to Hearts Pierced in the meantime (as sporadic as they may be in when I update it) but either way, despite a recent development in my life causing me to slow down a bit in the form of my first bout with heartburn (I've more or less recovered as of now), I've not stopped the stream of updates to fanfics about these two any at all.
Because really, after doing this fanfic — pretty much all I can write now has to have these two in it or I'm not interested. Sure, I did do a Bakugan fanfic without them for a short time but that quickly fizzled once I started thinking about these two again.
But whatever. The past in the past and as chaotic and uncertain as the future may seem, I'm just going to keep working on that aforementioned fusion fanfic and let the rest of you all enjoy this finally going up.
