Chapter 1
The date: June 30th 2030
[Carol's Home]
Carol Carther was getting ready for her first day as a nurse, she was anxious, yet happy as a child on Christmas day. It was Seven O' clock in the morning. She went downstairs, fixed herself coffee, and strawberry cream cheese on a whole wheat bagel. Once she gathered her breakfast on a plate she went into the living room in her apartment, and turned on the TV and started eating.
The news was nothing important as usual, just people trying to get onto TV while being stupid and getting sent to jail. 'I swear, some of these people are just plain dumb. I'm glad I'm not like them. I'm glad I'm a nurse. I hope my patients like me, but why would kids like me if I give them shots, and draw blood.' Carol thought.
Once she was done with her breakfast, she put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, brushed her teeth, grabbed her purse, and keys, and walked to her car.
'Today's going to be a great day.'
She started her Rose red VW Beetle, and started to drive to the Pediatric Center that was ten miles away. Carol listened to "Downtown" by Lady Antebellum and hummed along to the song, completely ecstatic about her job.
After twenty-five minutes of happy driving she arrived. Practically jumping for joy. She had trained long and hard, and went to Medical School, to get her P.H.D. She was not, in any way, shape, or form going to let that money go down the drain for nothing. It was time to work hard and gain back all of that lost cash.
Carol walked inside the building, and signed in. "Hi Patricia, how are you today?" Carol asked.
"I'm doing great. Are you ready for your first day?"
"Yes, ma'am. Can't wait." Carol responded.
"If you don't mind me asking, how old are you again? We didn't put that on your card." Patricia asked,
"Twenty-five." Carol answered.
"Okay, great. Thank you. And here's your card." Patricia said happily, handing over the card that had Carol's name, month and date of birth, and her picture.
"Thank you." She said putting on the card.
