Today is the day that we are going to fly to the Netherlands; Ted, David, and I. We're flying to the Netherlands because we are apparently immune to the disease that has infected most of the world. The Research Center is coming soon to pick us up at the airport.

"Alright, let's get going." Ted explained with a smile on his face. "Let's go find a cure for this disease." He had two suitcases on either side of him, one of them was mine, one was his, and yet I don't know where he found clothes to put in them. I've pretty much been wearing the same thing for a while unless I've gotten home, which has been very rare.

"Okay. Let's go." I smiled back at him through the mask on the suit that we're still wearing. Ted and I do not want to take them off just because of the safety factor; we don't want to get ill even though we think that we're immune. What if we aren't actually immune and this suit is the only thing keeping Ted and I from getting sick?

We walked out of the hospital smelling the foul metallic air. I looked towards the city, it's population was now all infected. As far as I know there have not been any deaths anywhere. That's a good thing; but being infected isn't. I walked to the Chevrolet with the lift kit, and unlocked the doors. Ted threw the suitcases in the back seat with David. Ted and I sat in the front, with me in the driver's seat. I started the truck and drove out of the parking lot which still had vehicles in it before Bloody Mary took hold with its blood encrusted fingers.

We were traveling east towards the airport that was a few miles outside of the city. I was scanning the scene before me as we continued through the city; there were burnt out cars, cars flipped on their sides, cars with doors open yet with nobody in there. Windows were shattered on the buildings, the insides gutted from burglaries, or just the insanity of the infected.

"Ted this is unbelievable." I muttered still taking in the scene, weaving around vehicles and broken glass.

"Yes it is." He responded.

I slowly drove being extra careful not to run over any of the glass on the road. We do not need a flat tire in the midst of an apocalypse. This drive does not need to be the feature trailer of a movie.

We were nearing the edge of the city and I saw a freeway entrance sign reading Airport. I sped up because we had passed the broken glass and burnt out cars. I wanted to get away from this dreadful city as quick as possible. Approaching the ramp there was a large group of infected that came out from around the opposite side of the ramp and approached us, blocking the freeway entrance ramp. "Great." I mumbled.

This was not good at all. We need to get to the airport, it is the most important thing on our agenda today. "Ted what should I do?" I asked still driving towards the entrance blocked by the infected. Their bodies were stained red, their clothes tattered, and blood soaked.

I looked over at Ted and he was just staring straight ahead at the infected with his mouth agape. "Ted?" I asked again. Turning my attention back to the road I noticed that I was excessively close to the infected. I didn't want to hit them and I swerved to the left, our bodies went to the right due to inertia. I slammed on the brakes and the ABS was working hard as I turned the wheel right so I wouldn't run off the road and into the underpass. The truck whipped around and came to a stop as we were jostled back and forth. I was surprised that we didn't roll over.

Wiping my bangs out of my face, I grunted frustratingly. The engine was idling as I thought about what I was going to do next. Ted and David weren't saying anything, so I assumed that they were still in shock about what had just happened. After a few seconds and noticing that the group of probably one hundred or so infected were approaching the truck, I decided that I was going to get to the airport no matter what.
