[Carol's P.O.V]
I was rushing into the Hospital parking lot, the tires screeching on my little VW Beetle. I ran into the ER waiting room, scavenging for Angela and her husband... I found them and ran up to them, out of breath. "Hey. What happened?"
"He tore himself up. I don't know why. Whatever he is sick with it's trying to kill him. I don't know if he's going to live, I hope he will. He needs to." Angela told me.
"That's not good. We need to get the analysis results ASAP." I said, texting the facility.
-Hey Adam, we need Dustin's lab results immediately. He attacked himself and he's in the hospital. Thanks. Carol-
-K Carol, they're ready. If you want to come down here and pick them up feel free to do so. Adam-
-Thanx, I'll be there in fifteen.-
-Alright see you then.-
"Hey Angela. I'm going to get the results, I'll be back in half-an-hour or so."
"Okay Carol. Be quick. We need you here." Angela acknowledged.
"I will." I smiled walking out of the hospital, and to my car. I started it up and drove hastily to the research center.
Finally after what felt like forever I arrived at the front gate. The officer came out of the small building before the gate. "Hello ma'am. What do you need?" The guard asked.
"My name is Carol Carther and Adam has the lab results for Dustin's blood sample for any abnormal diseases. He's in the hospital in terrible shape and I need the analysis results now." I said frantically.
"Alright. I'll phone him and open the gates." The officer said, picking up the phone, and pushing the 'open gate' button. "Okay. He'll be waiting at the front door."
"Thanks." I said, flooring the Beetle.
I drove into a parking spot, threw it in park, and ran up to the front of the building. Adam was waiting for me, he held the manila envelope in his hands. He handed it to me. "Carol. It's real bad. We don't even know what it is, but it seems to destroy cells, and replace it with angry toxins that mess with the brain. It possibly caused Dustin to attack himself, and with that it sped up the production of the toxins that started trying to decay his body. We can't pinpoint a location for where it started. It could be a bio-weapon, but I don't think that someone could make a disease without it having a characteristic of an actual parent disease."
"Alright. I need to go now. Angela and her husband need me back at the hospital. I'll catch ya later." I said, rushing to my car, and screeching out of the lot. The officer kept the gate up so I flew through as fast as I dared to; about 70 MPH. I bounded down the highway at breakneck speed weaving through traffic.
Once again it was a very short drive that felt like it took a bit more time than you thought it did. I raced up the hill towards the hospital, and screeched the tires at the entrance. I raced out of my car and into the hospital. Angela and her husband were still waiting where I left them. Angela was in shambles and her hubby was comforting her. "Angela. I got the results. Do you want to take a look with me?"
"I guess, but it's not going to help." Angela said, moping over to me. I pulled out the picture of the disease and the analysis sheet, and scanned my eyes over it. Geez, it was foreign and we don't know what it is, we've never seen it, never wanted to see something this bad, and sure as he*l don't want to see it in action more than we've already seen with just one person. It was awful and I bet it wasn't helping Angela, so I put the results back in the envelope, and closed it up.
Angela got up and walked over to her husband, whose name I learned was Connor, and she snuggled up in his shoulder.
Hopefully Dustin would be better, but I feel as though he'll pass away. We don't need that, and I surely do not want to tell Angela what I think. Hopefully, he'll get better, he has to, I really liked him as one of my patients, he always had a smile on his face. I needed to see that smile one last time.
Please dear Lord let this wonderful kid live.
