Chapter Forty Nine

Bring The Lion Out

How did you really identify whether the person you saw before you was the same person they had been this entire time? As one grew, especially during their teenage years, development and growth was a vital part. The person you met as a small eleven year old was not going to be the same person at fourteen, neither at sixteen nor at eighteen and so forth. But there had to be a limit of where allowing that person to develop, and adapting to those developments had to be made. Bronwyn Weasley was finding as the weeks passed, that she could no longer look over the changes within one of the people she was supposed to be closest to. And she had no idea at all of how to manoeuvre around it.

Harry James Potter.

The boy who lived.

The first friend Bronwyn had ever made.

Being the second youngest of seven siblings, in a household where you spent a lot of your time excluded from the outside world due to poverty, making friends had never come easy. Bronwyn had her older brothers, she had her younger sister but they were her siblings and never her friends. She loved them, endlessly but she never really considered them as her first friends. Sure Luna Lovegood and her as equally eccentric father lived close, if you considered the 20 mile distance close but Luna had never really been someone that Bronwyn was friendly with. Never for a competitive reason, nor was it to do with how peculiar the younger girl was. Luna just was never someone Bronwyn spent time around.

No it had not been until Harry had stepped foot into the compartment Bronwyn's older brothers had dumped her in that she had ever thought of making a friend. Contrary to popular belief, or the rumours of which circulated their way like a venomous snake in the jungle around the student body, Bronwyn had never been overly concerned whether the bespectacled boy who had first entered the compartment was Harry Potter or not. No she had just been excited to meet another magical preteen her age, excited to get to know someone who was not in her own family. Sure her mother had pressed Bronwyn greatly prior to boarding the train for the first time to ensure that she made friends with the 'boy who lived' but Bronwyn had never been overly looking for Harry. No he had somehow made the decision to join her in that compartment alone. A decision that for years Bronwyn had put up to fate, that Lady Majik had wanted the two of them to know one another so much that she had encouraged Harry to make that first entrance into Bronwyn's life.

An entrance the girl thought would never been accompanied by an exit.

But as she sat herself there, three weeks after Harry had attacked Draco and seriously harmed the blonde, her mind was torn. For years Bronwyn had found herself repeating the words of Molly Weasley, unfortunately the woman who would forever remain as Bronwyn's birth mother, unable to ever truly part with Harry. Molly had always preached the concept 'it never mattered how seriously Harry hurt her, he could never not be part of their lives'. Words that Bronwyn had repeated like a mantra over and over again as the years passed of their friendship. To the point where she had genuinely believed them to be true. Even when in that very first year of friendship doing something with Harry, or really for she supposed looking back on it, had ended up with her in the hospital infirmary. Or maybe in their third year when she broke her leg. Her fourth year when she had been held underwater as a sacrifice. Actually, if she was being truthful there was not a year of their friendship when she had not been injured whether it was physically, mentally or both, in some form due to her friendship with Harry. And there had not been a single instance when the boy had apologised for anything which had happened.
