Everyone was slightly worried that neither Jimmy nor Hazel and Logan were back yet.

"He probably went down to the high school. I bet he's running drills or running on the trails," John said.

"Where would Hazel go, though?"

"School. She'd go visit school and go see Mr. Parrillo," Sam said immediately.

"But they're still in school," Jan furrowed her eyebrows. Mike shook his head.

"No, she's right. Haz is probably sitting in one of the cubbies in the band room as we speak," he sighed.

"I'm sure he'd be thrilled to see Hazel," Arthur shrugged. "She'll come home later, I'm sure."

"She's really pissed at Jimmy."

"I would be, too!" Denise scoffed. "I just wonder how Logan's taking it. I don't think she wouldn't tell him."

"There's no way that she didn't tell him. That's not the type of person Hazel is."

"Besides," Mike added, "he seems like he's pretty relaxed. I don't think he'd make a big deal about it. I mean, the two of them were piss drunk last night. Logan knew that. I don't think he's the type to get jealous and flip out. I honestly don't."

The parents and children all fell silent. The only sound to be heard was the beating of the light drizzle that had started early in the morning. The sky was stormy and grey, and everything seemed detached and cold.

"So, what are we doing for dinner tonight?" Billy finally broke the silence.

"I was thinking pizza," Arthur admitted.

"Pizza works for me," Tony agreed.

"Pizza it is, then."

"Hazel Thompson, is it good to see you!"

"Hey, Principal Roderick," Hazel smiled, wrapping a tall, burly African American man in a hug. He had on a lilac shirt and a black tie.

"It's been a long time. And hello, I'm Principal Edward Roderick. You are?" he turned to Logan.

"Logan Ryan. Good to meet you, sir," Logan smiled, shaking his hand firmly.
