My nose tickles.

I open my eyes and see jinx playing with my nose.

"Meow?" She says playfully

I get an idea. Slowly and carefully, I make my kagune come out. Not the whole thing, mind you. I like my room clean not destroyed. Just a tiny thin sliver of it.

I wave it in front of jinx.

"Meow!" She screams as she bats it back and forth. I snake it along, enticing her to chase it. Up the walls, on the bed, in the air. She flies all around the room. Secute.

I head downstairs. Brooke is in her room, regenerating can really take it out of you if you're not extremely strong. Eren sits in front of the Xbox, mindlessly playing Bioshock.

Hmm

That would never work.

Anyways

I sit down next to him and watch. He looks over at me and smiles. If you walked in on us right now, you'd never guess we were ghouls.

I hear a knock at the door. I skitter over and open.

"KAT!! YOU CAN'T DISAPPEAR OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH WEVE TALKED ABOUT THIS OH MY GOSH I CANT BELIEVE YOU HGFYADIV" Lexi screams

I stare at her with wide eyes. School just ended three days ago. I look over at Eren who just nods and grins. I have to keep up a human appearance.

"Hey Lexi! I'm really really sorry everything's been crazy. You wanna go out?" I ask apologetically

"Um... well you see..." she stutters

"What's wrong? Did something happen?" I say

"Haven't you seen the news?! There was a group of ghouls who attacked the CCG last night!" She clasps and unclasps her hands nervously

"You can't let ghouls ruin the world..." I tell her. She's always so scared of ghouls, so I've had to say this a million times.

"You're right, but still.." she says quietly

"Cmon lets go out! Just lemme get changed real quick!" I tell her

I run up stairs and put on a gray sweatshirt, some black jeans, and my comfiest vans. I twirl in front of the mirror then I run back downstairs.

"Be back later!" I call to Eren

"Be careful! Remember what the school pamphlet said about ghouls! Stay out of alleys and away from dark corners!" Eren responds

I smile and take lexis hand. Together we head outside.

"Where do you wanna go?" I ask

"Umm you wanna hit up that really good coffee shop?" She says

"Which one?" Tokyo has so many coffee shops, it's dizzying

"Anteiku, duh" she says

"Alrighty!" I say

Anteiku does make surprisingly good coffee, so it's my favorite.

Once inside, disaster happens. A boy with headphones yells something at a boy with an eyepatch. Suddenly, a girl with purple hair punches the eyepatch in the face. A little girl chirps around happily, while a guy with glasses yells for everyone to shut up.

I look over at Lexi

"Maybe we should go to a different shop..." she says

And we do.

"I'll have a chai tea latte please" Lexi tells the barista

"Just a regular coffee, thank you" I say
