A Twisted World

Hurt

"I'm home!" I holler as I toss my bag onto the couch

"Hey! Everything go okay?" Eren asks

"Yeah, there was some talk about ghouls but it was okay. She never suspected a thing" I tell him

"Well, that's good. You should take a nap, we're..... going out tonight." he says

I nod. I definitely should nap.

At nine, the sun starts to set. I slip on my outfit and zip on my mask.

"Everybody ready?" Brooke grins

"Yeah" Eren and I say in unison

"Let's go!" She exclaims

"We're are we going this time?" I whisper as we lurk along dark alleys

"There was a raid in the 11th ward. They should be on their way to prison by now. We're going to stop them!" She's being way to peppy about this

"What about last time?" I ask

"Don't worry, I've worked out the flaws." She tells me

I look at her skeptically. But I trust her.

"Up." Brooke says, pointing at a building

"You want us to what?" Eren says in horror

"We're gonna scale this!" Brooke laughs

Sigh...

"Fine." I say as I activate my kagune

In a flash, I'm launching up towards the top of the building. The building has all sorts of ledges that make climbing simple.

"Kat!" Eren hollers

I look behind me, he's following closely. Brooke is a few feet behind him as well.

A hideous gray thing snarls at my face.

I scream and start to fall. Something warm wraps around my waist and pulls me back up.

I open my eyes to see Eren grinning at me.

"I was trying to tell you this building has stone gargoyles."

"Oh..." I say

By this time we're at the top. Tokyo looks gorgeous at this height. Sirens wail and flash in the distance.

"There's our target." Brooke grins evilly

"How will we get them from here?" Eren asks

"Simple." Brooke says

The sirens are under us now.

"Follow me." Brooke says as she steps off the ledge

"Brooke!" I scream as I watch her sail towards the vans

At the last minute, she activates her kagune and it slams into every surrounding wall.

But even though she's safely supported, she lets her body zoom towards the ground at impressive speeds.

I look at Eren and grip his hand tightly as we bound off the edge. Still holding hands, our body's spin in a circle. Our Kagunes shoot out and spike into the ground so that we aren't in any danger.

The CCG truck is directly underneath us. What a great landing...

Since we're not human, we have inhuman strength.

We land in crouched positions atop the truck, crushing it so bad that I fear for the ghouls inside.

Eren takes his Kagune and bangs in the truck doors, while Brooke drills a hole into the back.

A boy who looks to be about a year or two older than I am climbs out. I know him.

The smart, sophisticated Student Body President- Jaden. This guy has done anything but lay low. And here he is.

"You're a ghoul?" I ask

Just cause he's a ghoul doesn't mean I should reveal my identity.

"Obviously, considering where we are. And, who are you, pretty kitty?" He says flirtatiously

I sigh and roll my eyes.

"I rescue you from a prison truck, and yet you insist on flirting with me?!" I snap in disgust

"I wasn't flirting- I was asking your name!" He yells

"Just let me free you then get the heck out of-" I stop mid yell

The CCG investigators broke out of their car and stabbed Jaden with their quinquae.

Blood spewed from his mouth.

I rush forward and yank him off the weapon, probably causing more damage but it's probably minuscule compared to what they would've done if he stayed on.

My eyes quickly scan him. Looking closer at him, I see that it should be an easy regenerate. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't do anything to the investigators.

"Take him!" I say to Brooke quietly

I stand up straight and walk up as close as I dare to the investigators.

"You know what you two are?" I still speak quietly

They just stare back at me. They can't be that experienced- probably their second or third time out in the field without an older investigator to protect them.

"You two are bullies who play dirty. You are no better than the oversized beef head who takes lunch money from the boy with a limp." I continue

"And do you know what that makes me?" I ask gently

One of the idiots gets the courage to speak "The other bully?"

I glare at him.

"I'm the teacher who puts you in detention"

Now, I am a nice person. I've never gone out of my way to hurt anyone. I've never been rude, I've never been overly disobedient.  When my parents said to lay low, I laid low. I gave up the loud, exciting lives my friends lived for a calmer one that most would not question. I did my chores. I brought home grades that would get me into a promising college. I shared food. I helped those who needed help.

But never have I ever beaten someone up.

I closed my eyes and launched myself swiftly into the air.

I'd use my Kagune to move around, but I would try to avoid touching them. I just need to scare them.

I felt myself begin to drop swiftly to the ground.

I landed on the idiots shoulder and felt as his arm slid out of the socket.

His screams filled the night air.

I turned towards the other.

He braced his quinquae, ready to fight.

He wasn't as stupid as his friend, but he was clumsy.

I dodged left and right before ending up behind him. He turned towards me and I swept my foot up into his armpit, dislocating his arm as well.

While they both laid on the ground, I smashed their quinquaes.

"Be good now" I grinned as I slipped into the darkness of the night.
