Chapter 30:
Blaise

I groaned into my pillow as the phone blared with the ringtone I put to know when Alexa is calling. My hand lazily reached out to the desk and felt around in order to find the evil device that ruined my slumber.
A couple more seconds of searching and I found it. Pressing a random button which I hoped was the green one, I stuck it to my ear, groaning something like a “’Lo…”
“Blaise! You’re still asleep? Listen, something very bad – ”
I cut her off, “Speak slow. I’m not fully awake yet and yes, it’s still…eh, what? Seven? Eight?”
“Actually it’s eleven in the morning, but still. Listen, you have to listen to me.” Alexa continued in a panic. “It’s about Chris!”
“Forget him…” I muttered.
“No, no we don’t forget him but something bad is happening and most likely, he will be dead! Dead!” Alexa almost screeched. “I sent him to a dimension yesterday – I’m not sure which one – and then today, I woke up with a horrible feeling in my gut! And, I think something’s happened to him, maybe he’s captured, I don’t know, but we have to bring him back! We need to!”
“You bring him back…” I mumbled, not in a mood to retrieve him, let alone wake up properly.
“I can’t. I’ve already tried twice, I can’t do it.”
“Call me in thirty minutes when I’m at the store. Try again until you do bring him back. Bye.” I hung up in her face and resumed my comfortable space among the pillows and blankets.
“Blaise!” My mom called not even two minutes later. I groaned in reply again. No, I did not want to wake up or go to the store. The only thing I wanted was to sleep. S – L – E – E – P. Was it that hard?
“Oh, come on now. You’re a grown woman and you still can’t get up on time.” My mom’s voice came through the door, pouring into my room as she tried to pull the covers off of me. I held on, but I didn’t have the strength to do much, so I let her take them off. “C’mon.”

The phone rang again, but this time I was at the store. “Hello?” I picked up, already knowing who it was.
“Blaise, I still can’t.” Alexa’s voice sounded very worried and choked up. Was she in tears? “You have to do it, please. I tried once and I almost got something, but in the end, I didn’t get anything. Blaise, please. He’s in danger! I’ve already tried five times.”
“Alright, alright,” I sighed. “Stop your whining. I’ll do it.” I hung up the phone and went to the bathroom. First thing’s first, though: empty the tank.
Ten minutes later, the phone rang again. “Blaise!” My dad called, handing me the phone. I took it,
“Hm?”
“Did you bring him back?” Alexa’s voice came again.
“Who?”
“Chris!”
“Oh…uh…” Shit, I totally forgot about him!
“Blaise! I can’t believe you! You two have been together most, you should know when he’s in danger and I assure you, he is in great danger!” Alexa screamed. I held the phone away from my ear in order to protect my ears.
