The warp panel's glow had barely faded when Ghetsis stood before us, one hand resting over his robes as if the whole mansion had been waiting for his permission to breathe. His single visible eye swept across our group, counting us like pieces on a board rather than people who had fought our way here.

The corridor behind him led deeper into the warped heart of Aether Paradise. The mirror door was open now, but Ghetsis stood in the gap with the stillness of someone who believed every path belonged to him. Even the mansion lights seemed to shrink from the green gleam of his robes.

"Well now, what do we have here?" Ghetsis asked, his voice smooth with disgust. "I come out wondering what the commotion is, only to find the door to the center ajar and intruders running wild. Those leaders from other worlds were not nearly as useful as I had hoped."

My stomach tightened before anger could fully rise. Cyrus had been cold, Lysandre had been certain, Archie and Maxie had been obsessed, but Ghetsis carried something more personal. He was not only Team Plasma's monster. He was tied to the darkness that had once warped my father's shadow.

For a second, the room was not Alola anymore. It was Unova, and it was every lie Ghetsis had wrapped around the word liberation. It was Team Alpha's old trust being stained by Plasma's mask, and it was the memory of wearing N's face because lies sometimes had to be answered from inside.

Lillie stepped forward before I could stop her, fear for her parents cutting through everything else. "Where are my mother and father? You have not harmed them, have you?"

"Mother and Father, you say?" Ghetsis tilted his head. "I see. You are the daughter of the presidents. There is no need to worry. You will find them ahead, blissfully asleep and dreaming."

Gladion's hand snapped to a Poké Ball. "Then move before I move you."

Lillie tried to rush past him, and Gladion moved with her. Ghetsis lifted his staff, and a barrier of sick green light burst across the passage. They stopped short, not from fear, but because one more step would have burned them.

"Not so fast," Ghetsis said. "I cannot let you go beyond this point."

Alice's voice went low. "Ghetsis. Even after one world was finally free of you, another version crawls out."

Nate's face had gone pale with fury. Rosa's fingers curled around Bisharp's Poké Ball, and neither of them looked confused. They had worked with Team Plasma once, long enough to know how pretty words could be used as chains before the truth underneath showed its teeth.

Ghetsis noticed their expressions and smiled. "Ah. Former believers, perhaps? Or former tools that learned to speak of freedom after another master claimed them?"

Rosa's eyes hardened. "We learned enough to know that Team Plasma's freedom was always about your control."

"And Team Plasma once stained Team Alpha's name," Nate said. "Do not pretend you were ever saving Pokémon."

The words dragged older memories into the room. I remembered wearing N's face, not because I wanted to become him, but because the disguise gave us a way into Plasma's lies. Lillie and Minami had stood as Anthea and Concordia beside me, carrying grace like armor while we walked through a den of manipulation.

I remembered the way Ghetsis's followers had bowed to symbols while ignoring the people behind them. I remembered how easily he turned kindness into a costume and how quickly he discarded anyone who stopped being useful. Seeing another version of him breathe in Alola made every old scar feel awake.

Ghetsis studied me more carefully. "That expression. You have met something like me before."

"I have," I said. "In Unova, with Alice, Eve, Golly, Iris, and Cilan beside me. We saw your lies break apart, and the Ghetsis from our world was destroyed."
