-3rd POV-
"Hey, Riddle?" Kalim busted into the classroom, but didn't see the said male, but did see others, "...Huh? Did he leave already? I had some stuff to ask him."
"Riddle-san has stepped out of class to assist Professor Trein. His things are still here, so I expect he'll return shortly." Jade said, pointed at the bag on the desk.
"You wanna talk with him, too? Bad timing." Ruggie said.
"Is that what you guys are here for?" Kalim questioned them.
He nodded, waving the papers in his hands, "Yup. Leona-san gave me the interscholastics forms to hand in, and Riddle's the guy in charge of collecting it."
"The interscholastics..." Jade hummed, "Ah, the full title is the Arcane Academy Interscholastic Games, I believe? They were postponed due to the Malleus-san affair...Which has led to a situation where we have to handle interscholastics prep on top of our already hectic exam preparations. Azul was complaining about how ridiculously busy he was."
His eyes widen, "Is Azul still doing the study guide side hustle?"
"Sadly, the headmage has prohibited providing study guides in exchange for compensation. So I believe his new plan is to make them obtainable via the Mostro Lounge's point cards. Registered members can then exchange points to participate in online seminars."
He laughed, "That guy never learns."
"Yo, Jade. I wanna hurry up and get to basketball club practice." Floyd whined, "Could you call goldfishie and tell him to get back to class already? Actually, better idea-you could just give him the book back for me."
The said twin looked at him, shaking his head, "I'll do no such thing. If you borrowed something, you should be the one to return it."
"Why are you waiting for Riddle, Floyd?" Kalim questioned.
"We had an ancient incantations assignment to write an essay about this book we were supposed to read. I've been puttin' it off since I didn't feel like doin' it, but it's gettin' close to the deadline, so I finally dragged myself to the library..." He pouted, "And every copy of that book was checked out. It'd be boring to wait for someone to bring it back, so I went to get a copy from Azul, but class C had a different book to read."
"Ahh. The professor probably switched up assignments to avoid too many people copying each other's work." The hyena male said.
"Class E had the same book, but Jade was still usin' his and wouldn't let me borrow it." He sent a glare to his brother, who only smiled, "So I got it from goldfishie instead, since he was already done with his essay." He chuckled.
"Ooh. It totally tracks for Riddle to be done already! You lucked out big time getting a copy to borrow, huh, Floyd?" The white haired male smiled.
"C'mon, Kalim. You know a guy that strait-laced wouldn't sub-loan library property to somebody else in a million years. Floyd probably just took it." Ruggie smirked, as the other's eyes widen.
Floyd smirked, "I didn't "just take it." I wrote him an IOU."
"When Riddle-san saw that IOU written on a torn-off sheet of loose-leaf paper...the look on his face made me shudder." Jade smiled.
"Aha. That explains why you're so insistent on Floyd giving it back himself." The hyena male said.
Floyd nodded, "Yup. And that's why I'm waitin' for goldfishie."
Footsteps came in, making them all look, seeing the housewarden of Octavinelle.
"My, this is quite the eclectic gathering." Azul said.
