“Wait!” Vince called, jumping off the bed.

Howard paused, his hand on the door.

“So that’s it then?” Vince asked bitterly.

“Yes.” Howard didn’t even bother turning to look at him.

And then Vince felt the anger. Righteous Anger, that’s what it was called, right?

“No,” Vince said, pushing him against the wall. “It’s not like that. It’s different. I’ll prove it.”

Howard looked back at him. “How?”

“Come with me to the party. I’ll prove it, I’ll prove I care about you more. I’ll stay with you the whole time.”

Howard paused and seemed to think it over. And then he folded in on himself in despair. “Fine.” He whispered.

Vince gave a weak smile.

A small victory. Now he needed to prove to Howard that he loved him. More than anything.
