Hiname's POV
"Hello, my name is Hiname Hanayama. I have three brothers. I can speak three languages. My hobbies are reading, painting, and gardening."
I said to the class as it was my turn to introduce myself.
I could tell no one was really paying attention to what I was saying.
They were too busy staring at me.
You see...
I'm very tall for my age.
Especially for a girl.
I look a lot more like my dad than my mom.
I have my dad's straight black hair.
His dark eyes.
His height.
Even his serious expression.
The only thing I really inherited from Mom was my tan skin.
Well...
And maybe her stubbornness.
People usually assume I'm intimidating before they ever speak to me.
They see the height.
The expression.
The Hanayama name.
Then they decide they already know who I am.
The funny part?
I'm probably the least scary person in my family.
I'd much rather spend my afternoon in the garden than in a fight.
But first impressions don't really care about things like that.
Oh and
I unfortunately go to an all-girls school.
Officially...
It was because the boys at my old school wouldn't leave me alone.
The teasing got old pretty fast.
But if I'm being honest...
I don't think that's the whole story.
Knowing my dad...
This was probably his decision.
He'd never actually admit it.
He'd just say something like,
"You'll be able to focus on your studies."
Or,
"It's a good school."
But I know him.
He's ridiculously protective.
Not just of me.
Of all of us.
Still...
Being his only daughter definitely doesn't help.
My brothers get a lot more freedom than I do.
Meanwhile, I have a dad who somehow knows when I'm five minutes late getting home.
I still haven't figured out how he does that.
And honestly...
I'm afraid to ask.
———-
At lunchtime, I always sat with my best friend, Hinako.
She was sweet.
