Plot: Dan and Phil fight over height difference and make up after. Cliché, but I promise, it's gonna make you have feels. Maybe.

Dan met Phil in 2009. Phil instantly fell for him when he saw the brown haired teen at the train station.

When they hugged, Phil leant his head on top of Dan's and smelled his hair which had the scent of apples that were mixed with the scent of freshly roasted marshmallows over a fire.

He had this sixth sense in him when he was around this man: protectiveness. Phil felt like he can save him at any time and just be his knight in shining armor. This sense grew stronger over the years.

This year, however, he never felt that sense at all. He noticed something that was very off from what he recalled in 2009. He realised he couldn't smell Dan's hair anymore, or spoon him without feeling uncomfortable. He felt like he was empty inside; he could no longer be useful.

Dan walked in to the kitchen, hugging him from behind. "Hello, love." He kissed Phil's ear. Phil cringed when he felt his kisses.

The brunet saw his boyfriend's pout and puppy dog eyes. He frowned slightly and cupped his cheek. "Baby, what's wrong?"

"N-nothing." Phil cried out, trying way too hard to hold back his sobs. "Sweetie, I know when something is wrong, now tell me." Dan said sternly. But Phil didn't budge.

"N-no!" The ebony haired man snapped, tears starting to form in his eyes.

"Tell me Philip Lester, or I will lose my temper!" Dan said loudly. Phil whimpered quietly to himself, he hated when he got shouted at, especially when it is his partner.

Phil shook his head, pouting while doing so. Dan let go of his cheek. "PHIL, JUST TELL ME!" He shouted.

"It's stupid!" Phil threw back at him. Dan's face was red with fury right now. He never thought about how Phil can cry over the littlest things, thinking wasn't ever used in their arguments.

"If it's about the littlest thing yet, I think you need a tiny drill to fix that nail that fell off in your brain. After all, that's how big your brain is!" Dan snapped coldly.

The lounge filled with silence for a while. Phil broke the silence. "I-I feel useless t-that's w-why." He whimpered, tears drenching his rosy cheeks. He went upstairs, hanging his head down.

Dan registered in his head what Phil said. When he realised, he quickly dashed to their room.

When he got there, he saw Phil hugging one of Dan's stuffed animals, buried inside the blanket, little whimpers escaping his mouth. This broke Dan's heart, and he really regretted what he said. Phil was very smart, smarter than many people.

"Phil?" The brunet asked softly. His boyfriend didn't answer under the blanket. He opened the blankets to reveal more of his crying boyfriend. "Philly." He said more softly. He reached out to put a hand on Phil's cheek, but stopped when Phil flinched and whimpered sadly, thinking he was gonna slap him.

"I'm so sorry, Phil. I just wanted to help you but I made it worse. I'm sorry honey, I love you so much, you mean the world to me." Dan said apologetically. Phil got up and clung onto Dan, wrapping his legs around his waist. The brown haired man smiled softly, hugging him back tightly.

"It's okay, Dan. I was the one who caused this to happen because of my stupidness. I'm the one who should be sorry." Phil said sadly as he kept speaking.

"No, I was the one being stupid in this. I didn't think and I hurt your feelings. But can you please tell me what happened, I'm worried for you love." Dan said softly in his ear.

"Umm, s-sure..." Phil stuttered. "I-it's just that..." He got frustrated when he couldn't get the words out. Dan pulled the black haired boy closer to him, trying to reassure him that no matter what he says, he won't get mad.

"Our height difference is what's the problem. I-I wish it was like 2009 again, where I can protect you. Now it will never happen, because I'm shorter. Now that I can't protect you...that's w-why I feel useless." Phil let out, tears falling down his face. This was a very little thing, but it affected Phil so much.

Dan kissed his tears away that are almost wetting his shirt, and pulled him closer to his chest. "Baby, it will be okay." This only made Phil cry harder the more he thought of it.

Dan thought of a thing to make Phil better for a while. "You are adorable, lovely, and gorgeous in every possible way. But at the same time, you're brave, strong, and protective. A mix of both is what I need in life. Baby, I love you so much. I'll never leave you no matter what."

Phil cried again, this time being tears of happiness. He hugged Dan's neck tightly. Dan can see how happy he was, so he hugged him back just as tight.

He pulled Phil into a short and sweet kiss. Phil kissed back, cupping his cheeks, Dan's arm around his waist. They pulled back, Dan leaning his forehead against Phil's, the two of them smiling as if their small fight never happened. "Let's have a cuddle night right now, yeah?" Dan whispered to Phil.

Phil smiled fondly at him, kissing his cheek. Dan smiled at him back, stroking his hair lightly and pressing a soft kiss on his forehead. They went to the lounge, getting ready for their cuddle night.

Phil flicked through the channels and stopped when he saw The Hunger Games playing on the TV screen. Dan was sat down on the couch. "Do you wanna be big or little spoon?" Dan asked.

Phil smiled fondly at him. "I'll stay being little spoon. Now that I think of it, I love being in your arms." His boyfriend smiled back and opened his arms for him to settle in.

Phil gladly climbed into them, getting all cuddled up and cute in Dan's lap. He wrapped his arms tightly around Dan's neck, and Dan wrapped his around his boyfriend's waist, hands resting on Phil's tummy.

Phil moved Dan's hands to his hips. Dan smiled fondly at him and held him tighter and closer, pressing a kiss onto his temple. They were all calmed down again, and are very happy with each other right now.

Life is like a road. It never stops, until you reach a dead end, which is death. Roads also have roadblocks, in which you have to work your way out through.

After the movie ended, Phil was fast asleep, melting into the warmth of Dan's arms.
Gosh, I'm the luckiest man alive. Dan cooed to himself. Phil looked so cute when he was sleeping, and even when he isn't sleeping too, he still was cute as ever.

"Goodnight, lion. I love you. I love you so much. I love you more than there are stars in the sky, I love you more than everything else in this very room." The brown eyed man whispered softly.

He gave Phil one last kiss on the lips and the forehead, and lay down, his boyfriend snuggled up in his protecting arms, Phil's warmth luring him into a goodnight's sleep.
