Forever We'll Be

Plot: D&P are out on a date and they stumble upon Phil's ex. Protective Dan shows up in this story <3 It's great.

(A/N: Yay I'm back! It's been a while since I wrote in one take, and it feels good to be out of writer's block! <3 Thanks to greyscalelester for the prompt!!)

The sun shines brighter as a restaurant fills with many customers. Dan and Phil were two of them, willing to eat out together and enjoy each other's company.

"Mmm, this food is good." Phil says in awe, gushing at his plate full of pasta.

Dan smiles at how adorable he is. He looks like a little chipmunk with all of that food in his mouth. Such a cutie.

"Thanks for bringing me here, Dan! I love you babe." Phil mumbles, intertwining his hand with Dan's underneath the table.

"I love you more, sweetheart." The brown haired man replies back to his boyfriend. They smile at each other lovingly, catching the attention of everyone at the restaurant.

One of those people even came up to the table...only to flirt with Phil.

"Hey baby boy, how's your day goin'? Wanna go...hang out?" The man with scruffy brown hair said to the black haired man, putting an arm around him.

Phil opened his mouth in shock. He winced in agony then put on a face showing anger.
"G-Go away, Mikey! I'm already taken and I'm happy with my current relationship!"

"But love!"

"I want you back, baby. Come to me."

"I'm sorry I cheated on you. Love, please go out with me again." A pair of hands cupped Phil's face.

The cringey things coming out of his ex's mouth got to him as he angrily took his hands off of his face and cried silently, face down on the table.

Dan saw how much pain he was in, and went to defend his poor boyfriend.

"Leave him alone, asshole!"

Mikey glared at Dan, expecting him to flinch only to receive an even more scarier glare.

"Hit on someone else would you? Phil's uncomfortable once you came here and you made it worse by trying to flirt with him. Now please, if you'd mind, can we enjoy our date here? Thanks."

Mikey put a hand on his chest, then stormed out of the place. Dan could see in Phil's dull eyes that he wants to get out and go home, so he decides to call a waiter up to pay for the meal.

"Thanks for coming, enjoy your day boys!" The waitress chirped happily. The walk back to their apartment was silent. None of the boys wanted to talk now; they decided to wait until they arrive.

Once they arrived, Dan didn't even change out, he just wants his precious bean to be okay.

"Love. It'll be okay. I'll always protect you."

Phil cuddled into Dan's side, clutching his arm as if it were a teddy bear.

"I-I just have bad memories of him everyd-day...I can't take how much he hurt me."

The latter pulled him closer in response, rubbing circles and other patterns on his back as he began to cry more.

"Let it out, baby. It's gonna be okay."

Several minutes passed, and Phil was still silent but cries subsided into quiet sniffles.

"D'you wanna cuddle?" Dan felt a nod, and he immediately brought Phil's head on his chest and his arms snaked around his waist.

"Thanks, Dan. You're the absolute best."

"You're very welcome, Philly. I love you, remember that." Dan booped Phil's nose, causing Phil to giggle cutely and poke his dimples.

"There's my ball of sunshine!"

Run baby run, don't ever look back, he'll tear us apart if you give him the chance.

Run baby run, forever we'll be, you and me.
