Love and Acceptance

Plot: Dan and Phil's child comes out as transgender.

Liam Lester-Howell was the son of Dan and Phil, known as Danisnotonfire and AmazingPhil on YouTube. He was very happy with his life, but something seemed out of place.

Liam, in the inside, was a girl named Tabitha. His friends already know about this secret, and use pronouns and names that he was comfortable with. They also do the efforts of trying not to slip up in front of his parents. He snuck out of the house using his allowance from his job at Tokyo Toys to buy nail polish, makeup and girly clothing, and he didn't tell his parents yet because he was afraid. Afraid that he won't be accepted by them and be thrown out of the house, even if his parents were both gay.

His parents on the other hand, thought about why he prefers more feminine colours and why he has a Betsey Johnson backpack instead of a basic backpack a boy would choose for high school. They were aware his school was accepting, so they did not put much thought in it. It was quite obvious there was something different about their son, but that definitely doesn't mean that they won't support his choices, considering they were gay themselves.

Liam was in his room planning to paint his nails, when suddenly, his Papa Phil walked in the room.

"Heya, Liam!" Phil greeted him. He cringed at the name "Liam", it was too boyish for him.

"Hi, Papa." He said, trying to hide the uncomfortableness in his voice. Phil eyed him suspiciously. Liam was had a multitude of things crammed into his brain right now, including the fact that his Papa could read his mind like a book.

"Is there anything you want to talk to me about? I'm here for you." Phil asked him, resting a hand on Liam's shoulder. Liam shook his head quickly, and that's when Phil got even more suspicious.

"Liam, can we sit down for a while? Phil asked. Liam thought for a minute, then nodded, deciding that he was finally going to tell them the truth about his gender.

Phil lead Liam down the stairs and the two sat down next to Dan, who was casually browsing on his laptop.

"Dan, Liam wants to talk to us about something." Phil said. Dan nodded understandingly, aware of Phil's idea for a "family meeting". The two embraced each other as Liam was getting ready to speak.

"Okay, I don't know how to say this, but I, uhmm..." Liam tried to finish, but can't seem to. It was very difficult trying to come out.

"Liam, it's okay. You can take your time." Dan reassured him. Liam cringed again at the name. It's Tabitha.

"I-I don't want to be a Liam anymore. I want to be Tabitha. A girl. Ever since I was a kid, I-I just got tired of being a boy and..." He explained, tears welling up in his eyes.

Dan and Phil were shocked at first; they knew he wanted to be feminine, but they did not think about it this way.
Then they smiled at the same time.

"Oh, Li-I mean Tabitha. I-I am so proud of you, we both are actually!" Dan exclaimed.
"Group hug." Phil said, tears in his eyes. Tabitha went into their already joint embrace and hugged them both, crying on Dan's shoulder. She then smiled because of her new accomplishment.

"We both are very proud of you, our daughter. We're going to buy you some stuff for you soon, so get ready to go shopping, Tabitha."

I did it. I did it, I did it, I did it. And it was the best decision of my life.
