The woods flew past in a blur and the blood roared in my ears. I could hear shouting and gunshots, but I didn't stop.
Go. I have to run. Have to go on!!
My limbs began to feel like lead and every breath hurt, but I kept running, terrified of what would happen if I stopped.
"Ah!" A bramble snagged on my sneaker and I fell to the ground, slithering in the wet leaves and mud. I lay there, wet and panting.
I tried to convince myself to stand up, but my legs wouldn't obey and my limbs curled up. I lay on the ground, in a ball, taking in deep breaths of cool air. The sky above began to tinge with pink.
My eyes began to droop. N-no! Walkers! And bad guys! Get to the--
But I passed out.

The wind brushed against my cheek gently and my eyes fluttered open. The sun poured down through the leaves and warmed every part of my body. I drank in the warmth and stretched luxuriously and lay back, staring at the pale blue sky.
A robin sang on a tree branch and a squirell skittered past. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. Suddenly everything from the previous night hit me and I shot to my feet.
I heard a branch crackle and I wheeled around, grabbing my flip up combat knife. I flipped the blade up and peered around in the shadows between the trees.
"(Y/n)!! Thank the Lord!" I paused as a soft voice called.
"Beth?" The blonde stepped into the light. Here face was streaked with blood and mud. In her shaking hand she held a bloody knife.
"Oh! I finally found someone!" She ran up to me. I had to say, I was glad to have the company.
"We need to get to the gas station, right?""Yeah. Have you seen the big three?"
The big three, my nickname for Daryl, Rick, and Michone.
Beth shook her hair and her pigtails bobbed. "No. I havent seen anyone since we scattered back at camp. But," she smiled and slipped a pack off her back, "I have supplies."
She pulled out a water bottle and I snatched it up. "HALLELUJAH!" I cried before chugging the wonderful, cool liquid.
Beth smiled. "Have you seen anyone? Or have you been sleeping?" She picked a dry leaf out of my hair.
I flushed in embarrassment. "Y-yeah, and no. I haven't seen nobody."
"Well then, we should probably get to that gas station."
"Yes indeed."
