(Should I be worried about the fact that you guys weren't even concerned about yourself in the last chapter with the italicized part at the top? Like, not a single comment...)

Running. Everyone was running. But he couldn't see her in the fray, where was she? He called her name, but he didn't get a reply. No cry of fear, or relief to see him, or any-- A high pitched scream of pain burst through the clearing. He knew it was hers and he started to go after it. He stopped in his tracks, the breath leaving him, as all he saw was blood.

You know how there's just that one thing that, whenever you hear or see it, you know something bad is going happen? Like, your mom raises her eyebrows and you know that your life is about to end? Or you see that folder, and you know the rest of class is going to be heck because of the kid who owns the folder?

Yeah, that was how that knock was.

Daryl's arms flew protectively around me as he glared at the door. The knob slowly turned and the door pulled open to reveal a pair of guards. I would have been frightened, but I felt safe in Daryl's arms.

"Dixon, get up here and let me ziptie your hands, or Merle'll do it for me." One of the guards growled.

Daryl glanced at me. A heavy burden fell on my shoulders. He wanted help, he was asking me what to do, because he trusted me. That means if I messed up, we both would pay for my mistake instead of just me. That thought scared me, but the warmth of being trusted overruled the feeling.

I nodded to Daryl. Yeah. Go ahead. We'll be fine. He held out his hands, his face a picture of angelic submission. The man drew a ziptie and zipped it around his wrists tightly, making Daryl hiss in pain. I glared at the guard.

He grabbed my arm and hauled me up. "C'mon." Both men drug us through the compound and to a small room with only a table pushed in the corner. Merle was leaning against the table, arms crossed, eyes half closed. We were pushed roughly into the room and we stumbled as he watched us through his lids.

"Ah, well if it ain't the prick." Daryl growled, straightening and glaring at his brother.

"We all gotta survive, baby brotha." Merle sneered, chewing on something in his mouth. "I can't help it if you see differently."

After a moment of silence Daryl spoke. "Maybe I wanna live, not just survive." Merle seemed surprised by this answer, and I wanted to fist pump Daryl. Go man! "And, listen here," Daryl got inches from Merle's face. "You better pray to the devil I ain't gonna get out, and if I do, you better be far, far away from here. 'Cause, otherwise I'm gonna beat you to a dam pulp for touchin' my girl."

I was filled with that warm, tingly feeling again. His girl. I wasn't the girl, or (Y/n), or anything like that. I was Daryl Dixon's girl. I couldn't help but smile.

Merle didn't say anything, instead the door opened and slammed shut. We all turned toward it to see Craig stalking in. Merle's father (I refused to acknowledge that he was Daryl's father) twisted a gun on his hand and regarded us with cold, glittering eyes.

"Why are we here?" I spat.

His brows raised and he smiled. "Ah, it's quite simple, really. Ye'r little angel is gonna get on his knees and beg for me to let you go." I saw surprise, shock, and even concern flash across Merle's face. If he didn't know what was about to happen... The thought sent shivers down my spine.

"He ain't beggin' you for nothing." I growled, speaking for Daryl. "In the end, you and Merle both'll be on your knees crying for mercy."

He pressed his lips tightly together, glaring at me silently. He jerked his head to the door. "Merle, get out. I'll call you when I need you back here."

Merle gave a start and slowly began to walk out. Daryl flicked him an obscene gesture, muttering 'lapdog'. Merle's eyes quickly flicked away from him. Daryl then gave his father a withering glare that would have made the devil tremble in his... Did he wear boots? Or, like, did he wear Legos on his feet? Legos. Definitely. A withering glare that would have made the devil tremble in his Lego boots.

Craig grabbed my arm and wheeled me around so I faced Daryl. He cocked the gun and set it on the table. "Like I said, y'er gonna get on y'er knees and beg, angel. Beg for me to let her go."

Daryl shook his head, glaring at Craig. "I ain't no angel. And if you touch my girl one more time, I'm gonna rip out your eyes and shove them down your throat." He growled.

Craig laughed, his hands moving down towards my hips. I tensed as he grabbed my shirt hem. "Hey, what the--" Then he tugged my shirt off.
