Okay, so, this chapter took a LOT of research, so you better appreciate it! Like, an hour or so of looking. This is dependable, researched information.

So i might or might not have fallen asleep at 11:30....
"My mum died when I was young. She fell asleep with a damn cigarette in 'er mouth, lit the whole house on fire. Died in it. Dad always blamed Merle for her death." I didn't understand why but okay. "Merle was always in juvie."

"Why does that surprise me?" I muttered sarcastically.

"He taught be to be strong, but he was never around. My dad was an ass. He beat Merle. He was always drunk or high... Or both." He was quiet for a moment. He looked distant. "He also... He..." He struggled for words, his head hanging.

"He also beat you." I whispered gently, parting his curtain of greasy hair and pushing it back behind his ears. He looked up at me, his face a mask of confusion. "I know." I gently kissed his forehead. "I saw your back once."

Indeed I had. He was changing his shirt and I had seen the long scars stretching across his back cruelly. I had figured something had happened to him, I just didn't know what.

Until now.

"Yeah." He grunted, sitting up. "I don' know what the hell happened to the bastard. I drifted around with Merle for a while, just following and listening to him. I don' know what happened to him either. We got separated a while back."

"Do you think you're brother's the one threatening these idiots?"

Daryl shook his head. "My brother's an idiot, but 'e wouldn't do nothin' like this. He'd team up with a gang, but he wouldn't start or lead a gang particularly."

"Hm... Okay." I stood up and kissed his cheek. "I gotta go now. I'm gonna go ahead and convince them to treat you like a human being, not an animal." He nodded and gently brushed his lips against my own cheek causing me to blush.

"Keep 'erself safe." He whispered.

"Of course."
