He was silent for a moment. He then sat up and turned me around gently, making me face him. "Why?" He grunted softly.

My eyes filled with tears. "B-because... He..." I sniffed as my voice cracked. "He was bit." I finally whispered.

"That's not all, is it?" He gently lifted my chin to look me in the eyes.

"N-no." I sniffed. "N-no, he tried to kill my mom."

Daryl's eyes softened and he sighed. "It's okay. We've all done things we wish didn't."

"But my mom hated me. She didn't believe me. My dad and I kept having falling outs and she thought I was bitter, so she figured I tried to kill him out of anger. She abandoned me on the side of the road..."

"And that's when we found you." He finished and I nodded. He sighed and hugged me. "It's gonna be okay. You're okay. I'm here." I sighed happily, enveloped in warmth. He strong arms held me and the hug was everything I needed. It soothed me, told me he knew exactly how I felt, gave me a sense of protection, and soaked love into me.

I could've fallen asleep, but a sudden, rapid pounding killed the mood. I jumped to my feet and opened the door quickly. Tom stood there, glowering. "We're having a crisis. The Asian--"

"Korean." Daryl and I grumbled at the same time, even though Daryl was watching me like I would do something wrong.

"Whatever." Tom groaned. "Look- he's gone all crazy, and he's demanding for 'Maggie'. I need to see if you can calm him down before he bothers everyone else. We saw someone coming, thinking it's that Dixon again. We don't need all this drama. You do this, we'll get him some food." He nodded to Daryl.

"Of course." I pushed past him and closed the door before Daryl could protest or ask any questions. "Where is he? Glenn, I mean."

"Right this way." I followed Tom through the hallways, down the stairs, and past a couple of guards, and finally to the unfinished rooms.

Tom opened the door a bit and I slid through. Glenn was sitting in the corner, his face buried in his hands. "Glenn?" I knelt down beside him and placed a hand on his shaking shoulder.

"They're hurting her." His voice was husky, like he had been crying or screaming. "I heard them hurt her. I'm going to kill them. All of them if they lay another hand on her."

"Glenn, calm down." I gently hugged him and he hugged back, latching on desperately. I whispered softly to him. "We'll get her out, we'll hurt whoever hurt her, we'll get us all out. Look, the dude who keeps attacking them is coming back. This is the perfect time for a plan."

Tom suddenly knocked on the door. "Is he calm yet?" He called. Glenn stiffened in my arms.

"It's him." He hissed.

"Just a moment!" I called. Glenn and I talked quietly, forming a plan, memorizing every route, floor, and staircase in the maze of the building. When the Dixon attacked we'd be set.

This would work.

Well.

Maybe.
