I slowly opened my eyes and the sun beat down in my lids. I sighed contentedly, warm, and then suddenly realized I was hugging something. A someone.
Daryl.

I yelped and jumped up, letting go of him. "Ah!" I screeched. "Daryl! Why didn't you-- why was I what-- what happened?!" I demanded furiously.

He smirked and sat up, brushing himself off. He stood up. "You were havin' a nightmare. I couldn't wake ya up but you curled up against me like a kitten. And everyone knows, you don't bother a kitten when they fall asleep on ya."

I blushed and made a noise. "Y-you--"

"You're pretty warm." He smirked before picking up his bow. "Beth!" Beth melted out from between the trees. "Cmon, we're findin' that gas station today. We need to get back to the rest of the group."

"By 'we' you mean Beth and I." I grumbled, still furious at him, as I began to saddle Bree up.

He didn't give any indication of hearing me, and just walked out into the woods to do... Whatever he does. Check the traps I guess.
Beth came over and helped me finish saddling up the mare. We got everything packed up and the map out when Beth pointed to the bit of sky we could actually see between the trees.

It was grey and overcast, promising rain. I groaned. "Greeeaaaatttt." I hit the saddle angrily. "Just what we need! Rain!"

A chilly wind suddenly picked up and Daryl ran through the woods. "Hush!" He barked, grabbing his stuff.

"What is it, Daryl?" Beth asked meekly.

"There's a herd. We have to get out. Now. Otherwise we might not make it out at all."
Beth and I both winced and finished our doing. We hopped up onto the horse, Beth taking the reigns, and Daryl hopped onto his bike. He started up the engine and suddenly we heard a chorus of moans. Daryl cursed loudly before turning to us. "Turn around! We gotta go the other way!"

Beth got the horse turned around and we started to gallop between the trees. Beth let out a yelp and the horse pulled up short.

Zombies began to pour forth from between the trees on every side.

We were surrounded.
