"DARYL?" Beth asked incredulously.
"So the princess made it." The light disappeared and Daryl was standing there. "I nearly shot you two."
"Thank god we found you!!" Beth squealed, running up and hugging Daryl. I stared as he tensed and then used one arm to hug back.
((A/N: Wow, that even hurt MY love feels! But, you shall see why this is sorta important later.))
"K, that's 'nough." He pulled away and stepped back, examining us both.
I walked up beside Beth, the surprise fading and feeling tired again. "Is there anywhere we can sleep? I'm dying on my feet. Like, I'm going to go and pass out in a pile of leaves."
Daryl chuckled. "The barn's open if you don't mind sharin' it with us."
He started walking back to the barn. "'Us'?" Beth questioned as we followed.
As if to answer we heard the soft nicker of a horse. I ran up to the barn and looked inside, Beth on my heels.
"Us." Daryl confirmed, walking into the barn.
The horse was beautiful. A mottled grey with large, blue eyes. She swished her ash colored tail and walked up to us.
I clicked my tongue softly and stroked her velvety nose. Beth did the same. "She's beautiful."
"'er name's apperently Bree." Daryl patted the horse's side and went into a stall padded with fresh bedding, a couple blankets, and lined with nails.
"This one'll keep the Walkers out. You can sleep in the loft or with me."
"Down here!" Beth and I said instantly.
Daryl smirked a little and settled down in the straw, cross legged. Bree clopped in and lay down next to him. Beth and I lay down against the horse's warm sides. She nickered softly.
Daryl shifted a bit. "I'll take first watch. (Y/n)'s got second watch. Beth, you get third."
We nodded and I lay against the horse, breathing in her sweet scent and the smell of hay. The horse's steady rise and fall of her chest relaxed me, and I soon fell asleep.
