The classes dragged on, one by one. It felt as if this day would never end. Finally the bell rang releasing us from school. I slid out of my seat and threw my backpack over my shoulders. I walked out of the classroom and headed to my locker. Students flew by running out the doors so they wont miss their bus. Others casually walked around the hallways with their friends catching up on their day.
I slowly walked towards my locker because I knew my dad would be late picking me up. When I turned the corner to the hallway where my locker was located, I spotted a familar face leaning slightly against my locker. Austin was there waiting for me with a smile. I quickly trotted over to him and greeted him with a hello as I began turning the dial of my locker.
"Hey are you going to Ryan's party tomorrow night?"
"Um.. I dont know yet."
"Aw come on! You have to! I told you I'll pick you up and if you'd like I'll drive you home afterwards."
"I have a lot of unpacking to do.. and.."
"No Brooke. You're coming to the party wether you like it or not!'
I closed my locker and zipped up my backpack. I turned to face Austin and playfully hit him in the arm.
"Fine. Pick me up at 7."
I looked down at my feet to find a slip of paper on the ground. I picked it up and unfolded it. It must have fell out of my locker when I took my notebook out.
I saw your little trick at lunch today. Dont let it happen again or you will be sorry. This little game of yours wont last long as I'm around. Austin doesn't want you. Get over it. If you go to Ryan's party tomorrow you should start looking for another school to transfer to. - Scarlette
Did she really have to sign it? Like come on who else would have written that and put it in my locker.
"What is it?" Austin asked. I crumbled the paper in my fist and threw it in my backpack.
"Oh it was just a note I wrote myself in math earlier."
I walked with Austin out the double doors outside.
"Well there's my dad. I guess I'll see you tomorrow. Bye!"
"Sure! Text me!" I waved him goodbye and ran to my dad's car that was waiting on the other side of the road.
"How was school sweetheart?" My dad asked as I climbed in the passanger seat and buckled my seat belt.
"It was... eventful."
We drove about 15 minutes until we finally got home. I dropped my backpack and started helping my dad unpack some boxes. I began with the boxes that held the items for my room. It was strange putting familiar objects in an unfamilar room. It wasn't the same as my room in California but it was all I had.
I placed my mother's photos on my dresser and began to wonder. What would she tell me with the situation I have now. Would she tell me to continue being friends with Austin? Would she tell me to leave him alone so I wouldn't get hurt? What would she say at all? Times like these were the times I wish my mom was here with me to help me get through it. How could dad understand all this? I can't tell him I've had a crush on this guy since i was 6. He would not approve of me having a boyfriend. Would he?
It was all too much for me to handle. I decided on laying down on my mattress for a little while. I had not put the frame up yet so right now it was just a mattress with a few blankets on the floor. I laid down and my eyelids slowly began closing. I drifted into a deep sleep. I didn't dream actually. Just darkness. That shows you how tired I was. When I awoke it was already night. A soft light shown under my door. My dad was still awake. I stood up shakily and walked to my dresser where my phone was. I clicked the home button and the screen lit up. Squinting, my eyesight fixed to about 10 new text messages. A few were from old friends from California but most of them were from Austin. I smiled as I slid my finger across the screen to reply.
