The school day dragged on as slowly as possible because teachers love to torcher you. I was just happy that it was Friday meaning I don't get to see their faces again until two days later. I had a few test and quizes so thankfully I didn't have any homework for once in what seems a billion years.
I sat in my 7th period staring at the clock while my teacher drooned on about some math equation as I impaitently drummed my fingers on the desk. Waiting. Watching the clock tick. I grabbed my backpack and stood up.
"Ms. Mitch- RRRRIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGGGGG!!!" I snickered darting through the door, outside to meet Renee at her car.
We drove to my house since my father wasn't home so she could spend the night and so we can go to Alex's. As we arrived Renee got her overnight bag from her trunk and I unlocked the door.
"Wait. What is this?" Renee said bending down outside the door. She picked up a small envelope sealed with a heart sticker. "It's addressed to you Brooke."
I took the envelope from her hands and walked over to my couch where I plumped down. Renee closed the door behind her and followed. I carefully examined the handwriting and began opening it. I unfolded the small note and read it rather quickly since it was so short.
Hope to see you tonight -A
I slightly smiled and placed it back in its container.
"What did it say? Who was it from?" Renee interrogated.
"Umm. It was from Austin. He wants to see my tonight. At Alex's."
"The real question is do you want to see him?" I looked up at her to catch her gaze.
"Yeah.. I do.." I smiled and watch the expression of joy on her face.

After Renee and I completed our homework that our evil teachers' assigned us, we rummaged through all my clothes to find an outfit to wear for tonight. I have finally built up all my confidence to decide that I will go to the party tonight. I know it won't be a huge party because there are a lot of people from our school who hated Austin, so it will just be us.
Finally after looking for about thirty minutes, we agreed on an outfit. This outfit consisted of a coral high low dress with a pair of gold wedges. I placed on the strapless dress and Renee helped me curl the ends of my hair slightly to create a wave effect. I applied more make up than I usually do by adding foundation, filling in my eyebrows, pink eye shadows to match my dress, and a brighter blush. I used my favorite dark black eyeliner and black mascara to complete my eyes.
I stood up and strolled to the mirror I had in my room. I took a long hard look at my reflection and gasped. I actually looked amazing. I usually don't dress this way on a regular bases and I think it's a good change.
I saw Renee grin and squealed, fanning her hands out by the sides of her head. We both burst into laughter.
"Come on gorgeous, it's time to head over there."
Butterflies started forming in my stomach as we climbed into her car.
"So what do you think Prince Charming will be wearing?" Renee questioned.
"I don't know. And just because I agreed of going doesn't mean that we're getting back together. Don't get any ideas." I rested my head on my arm on the window, admiring the beautiful open fields.
"Whatever you say.." She stated suspiciously.
It took us only a few minutes to arrive in Alex's driveway since we live in such a small city in Texas. Renee got off the car first leaving me there questioning if this was really a good idea or not.
"Brooke. Get. Out. Of. The. Car." Renee said, tapping on the window. I took a deep breathe and opened the door. I straightened out my dress, and fixed my hair before walking up with Renee to the door. She knocked on the door twice and we soon heard footsteps jogging towards us.
Alex swung the door open with his cute smile upon his face.
"Welcome ladies! You both look so beautiful tonight! But not as beautiful as Sarah of course." He turned over his shoulder, winking at Sarah who laughed then came over to greet us. I embraced Sarah in a huge hug because I haven't seen her in such a long time. We talked about how school was when he walked out of the hallway towards us.
He was wearing a dark grey graphic tee with black jeans. Suprisingly he wasn't wearing a snapback or beanie which I loved. His hair was just so gorgeous looking with that small wave above his part on his right side. His hands were burried deep in his pockets as he slowly approached us. His head was low until he reached me. He lifted his head and looked me directly in my eyes.
"You look beautiful tonight Brooke." My knees felt weak just then.
"Thanks." I managed to get out of my stuttering mouth.
Austin turned to Renee and said hi and turned his attention back at me.
"Glad you could make it tonight."
"No problem." I smiled.
"Do you want anything to drink?" Austin asked.
"Umm sure. What do you have?"
"I'm not sure. Come on lets go check." He grabbed my hand and lead me through the door to the kitchen, alone.
