Arthit's phone had been ringing nonstop since he was in a meeting, feeling his pocket vibrate over and over. The meeting had ran over time and he knew Kongpob was probably upset that he was yet again late for another dinner. They'd planned this one two weeks ago and a meeting still had the ability to interfere. After going half hour over time, Arthit was happy to literally run out of the board room, grab his things from his office and race out of the building. As he rushed to his car, he checked his phone. Only, it hadn't been Kongpob who called him multiple times.
"Hello? I'm returning a call from his number."
"Yes, is this Khun Arthit Suthiluck?"
"Yes it's him," Arthit replied.
"I'm calling from Bangkok Hospital. Your husband Kongpob Suthiluck has been transferred here after a major car accident. We need you on premise Khun."
"I'm sorry, what?" Arthit's heart raced.
"Your husband was in a car accident Khun Suthiluck. How fast can you arrive?"
"I'm coming right now," Arthit rushed out. He continued to his car, his mind racing. "Please don't do this to me Kongpob. Please don't leave me," Arthit was already crying as he got into his car and drove off.
The hospital was exactly twelve minutes away from his office. He parked sloppily and ran into the building, being escorted to the executive floor. The doctors was there waiting for him, along with Kaiya and Kerrkalai who was holding Kingman in their arms.
"Where is he?" Arthit rushed out. "I want to see him now!"
"Khun Suthiluck, please calm down," the doctor said.
"Don't tell me to calm down! Where is my husband?! I need to see him!"
The doctor sighed heavily. "Khun Suthiluck, I'm sorry. We took your husband for emergency surgery but the damage was irreversible. He died on the operating table."
The world fell out from beneath him as Arthit crumbled to the floor, freefalling into nothingness. He screamed so loud but he couldn't hear his own voice. Gone. His soulmate was gone?
"Arthit! Arthit wake up!"
Blinking his eyes open, Arthit jumped up from the chair. He looked around the hospital room. Kongpob was laying in bed, hooked up to machines as he was in an induced coma to lower the swelling in his brain. He looked worse for wear but, he was alive. Arthit clutched his chest and looked at his mother who'd jolted him from his nightmare.
"Didn't I tell you to leave?" he asked her hotly. He went over to the basinet and looked down at Kingman who was sleeping peacefully.
"I know but I want to help. Kaiya and Kerrkalai are devastated about the accident and they've also been taking care of Kingman day in and day out. They need sleep and you're not in the right headspace to look after a baby."
"You don't even like my damn husband, why should you be here trying to do anything?" Arthit knew he was being unreasonable but his husband was on death's door. He couldn't control anything he felt.
"I do like him. Especially as I've been getting to know him." Chanthira stood and went over to him.
"Don't touch me," he said hotly. He sat next to Kongpob's bed and held his hand. Kongpob was on the way to their date when a drunk driver blew through the red light. The driver was already in prison facing charges but none of that would matter if he lost his husband.
"I'm sorry this is happening Arthit. I really am."
"You never wanted me and him together," Arthit wept. "Why are you here?"
