I am currently sitting in class bored...well sleeping."Mary?"
I lift my head up and look at the teacher.
"Mary...you have to leave." I look around and see the class is gone. I jump up and grab my stuff. I smile softly and leave the class and head to lunch.
...............
I stand in the locker room and apply my knee protection. I tie my hair up and walk out to the gym.
I sit down on the floor and lay out.
I hear a door open and shut fast. I hear boys laughter and look to their locker room and see Cory and Cody.
"Oh wow...you woke up!" Cory shouts. The rest of my team come out as they approach me.
"Ha ha ha....very funny. Why didn't you wake me up!" I huff. They both laugh and Cody crosses his arms. I cross my arms.
"You looked comfy." Cory says. "And cute while you were snuggling up with your jacket." Cody adds. I blush and look at my team as they are glancing and looking away.
"Wow...okay. I gotta go, bye guys!" I say and they nod. Cody stared at me as I walked away. He smirks and runs up with Cory.
"Miss. We just talked, what was that!" Ally whispers as we stretch. I smile and shake my head.
"I don't know...but.-"
"Mary!" I look up and see Cody and Cory smirking as they exit the gym. I look at Ally and she smirks.
"What ever!" I push her and she falls.
"Ladies, Focus!" Our coach says. I nod. I turn to Ally as she is getting up and glares at me.
"Whoops." I smirk. She rolls her eyes and we start to hit the ball back and fourth.
.........................
One week Later...I watch the boys practice as I sit down on the bench.
Cody runs up and points to the water bottle. I toss it and he bends his head back to waterfall the water.
"Thanks." He says and runs away. I nod and fill the bottles up more. I feel a shove and look behind me. I See the tall boy and he smirks.
"Need some water." He demands. I give him the coldest new one. He gulps it all down and throws it down and runs off.
I sigh and pick it up.The boys practice is ending soon so they are just getting ready for ending.
Lately I have been just going to practice and helping with water. They all kinda like me except that tall boy. But its okay...I just don't know why no one loves this flawless thang. Joking, I wouldn't either.
"Mary...get the paper on the bench and come to the field." The coach yells. I grab the play book an jog to the team.
They all stand tall and watch me as I approach. I look through the helmets and meet there sweaty eyes. My eyes make contact with Cory and I see his big white smile appear.
"Alright, thankyou." The coach smiles too. I nod and walk away until he calls my name.
"Stay right here for me mam." I watch as he sets up the boys and then I stand in the middle.
"Okay, imagine Mary...is the receiver Defense. What do you do?" The coach talks to the boys more and I still stand there confused and bored.
"Mary...pay attention...we might want you on the field." I hear behind me. I turn to the offense and see two guys in the back looking at me. I look closer and roll my eyes.
"Boy. You only want her on your field, like the last water girl...you kept her on your field and thats why she sucks at being water girl. So lets keep this one good, she seems like a keeper." A boy in front of me snaps. I hold back my laugh as Cody huffs.
"We never did anything." Cody sighs.
"Oh, really...nothing, at all.?" Joey chimes in. Cody shakes his head but I only see the helmet moving. Cody moves closer to Joey.
"Why don't you tell Mary bout your little mishap with the damn water girl...bet you wont." He laughs. I cross my arms. Its hard to read their expressions with this huge helmet on but Joey just laughs with a sigh.
"Your right, we all messed-"
"Mary you can go now." The coach says. I turn to him and nod but glance as Cody and the boy in front of me point at me and nod. Joey looks ahead at the coach who is helping defense. I grab a water bottle and take a gulp.
I was sitting on the bench when stomps came towards me.
"Woah woah woah." I stand and grab free water bottles giving it to boys who don't have any. Someone snatches mine and walks away. I pass more out then go back to the bench.
The boys gather in a group and talk.
"So our next game is in two days...Friday. Mary are you gonna be able to help?" The coach ask. All the boys helmets were off and they all looked at me.
"If-If I don't have a game...then yes sir." I say.
The boys laugh. "Yes sir." They mimic.
"What!?" I ask defended. Roe turns to me.
"Its Coach...not sir." He laughs. "Dumb-"
"Alright!" Cory yells signaling Roe to be quiet.
"No, please...finish. Dumb what?" The coach ask. Roe scoffs.
"Dumb uh...smart cute girl. Thats what I meant to uh say Coach." Roe lies and chuckles. They all stand and gather in a circle.
"See you Fridays boys, and Mary." The coach dismisses us.
