I crossed my arms, leaning against the walls and waited for them to notice me. I couldn’t believe they were doing that; but I waited for them to notice me before I stopped it.

Karma backed up from Nathan, leaning her head against the wall as he kissed down her neck. “This isn’t right. Marie will find out.”

“She doesn’t know.” He breathed. “She will never know.”

“She does now.” I said lowly, and Nathan lifted his head, and they both slowly turned towards me. “I can’t believe you, Karma.”

“Marie, it isn’t-”

“Shut it.” I ordered, and he clamped his mouth shut. “Move.”

“Marie-” Karma started, running over to me, but I pushed past them as I jerked my door open and slammed it behind me. Nobody tried to follow me, which was a good thing. But how could they do that? Maybe one date, and they’re already making out? Is it even supposed to work like that?

I got used to sitting in my room by myself, but I also was used to random people magically appearing.

I lifted my head when I heard the door creaking, seeing Spark and Jake’s head appear in the doorway. “What?” I asked, falling back, eyeing the ceiling.

“I don’t know, I’ve heard a bunch of miscellaneous things about you.” Jake said, standing awkwardly next to Spark. “What happened?”

“My best friend came.” I stated, feeling my anger rise. “My best friend came and-”

“I’m your best friend.” Spark stated, crossing her arms.

“My best friend from Hell.” I corrected, glaring at her.

“Why would you know someone in Hell?” She asked in annoyance. “You live up here, with us. You shouldn’t even be in contact with those kind of creatures-”

“Well, I am!” I snapped, making her shut up. “She’s my best friend, Spark. I’m sorry, but she is. I saw her, she’s here, in Heaven.”

“But why-”

“Because she’s from Hell, okay!?” I shrieked, shooting up, watching my hair fly in front of my face. “What the Hell do you expect!?”

“Marie, you’re, um-” Jake started, but I turned my head slowly towards him, and he shut up.

“What the Hell could you possibly want now!?” I snapped, shrieking, screaming, feeling my eyes start to burn.

“Your skin is…” Spark whispered, and I looked down at my arm, seeing the deep, red color. “You’re a…”

I looked back up at them. “Okay, fine. I’m a devil. Happy?”

“You’re a devil. You’re one of them.” Spark stated, and I shook my head.

“But no one can know. No one knows. I have to repay my debt to God. I have to stay here.”

“You’re one of them.” Spark repeated, backing up, hitting the wall. “My best friend is a devil.” She shook her head, a half smile cracking her face. “No wonder you can say the ‘H’ word.”

“What, Hell?” I asked, and she nodded. “Yeah, I’m kinda from there.”

“You’re crazy.” Spark stated, coming off the wall. “This whole thing is crazy.”

“Well, I’m sorry you feel that way.” I replied sarcastically.

“How many people know?”

“Well, I can’t be sure. I’m hoping about four.”

“And your friend is a devil too?”

“Damn right she is.”

Spark stopped, shaking her head and biting her lip. “I’m sorry you’re from there.”

“I don’t need your sympathy.”

“Okay!” Jake started, stepping between me and Spark. “Well, we’re just going to go ahead and give you your space, it looks like you’ve been through, well, the ‘H’ word.” He told me, grabbing Spark by the shoulders. “Bye Marie, we’ll see you later.”

“Bye.” I growled as they left, and I sighed as I fell back, watching my skin until it turned back to normal. If I was a pure angel, why did my skin turn red like the devil?

I was asleep when I found myself on the white floor. I fell onto it though, groaning as I sat up. This wasn’t my room.

“Marie.” I heard the voice, and I whined as I stared up at him. “We need to talk.”

“What the Hell do you want now, God!?” I snapped, feeling my anger again. All I wanted was sleep.

“For the easy phrase, you are being relocated.” He replied, and I stood up, waiting for him to say more.

“Relocated? Like, I can go back home?” I asked, but he shook his head. “Then where… and why?”

“Well, too many people are figuring out about you, and let’s just say, that wasn’t supposed to happen.” He replied, and I swore under my breath. “But you still have to work.”

“If I’m not staying up here, then where?” I asked in annoyance.

“Well, I had to pick a place where none of your friends or family would find you, and a place where I could easily look out for you.” He explained, and I waved my hands in front of me, making him move on. “And there are not that many places for that.”

“What the Hell do you want me to do, God?” I asked finally, making him get to the point.

“Well, I’ve got a friend who always needs an extra hand, and he’s pretty far off the map.” He explained further. “So, I will send you to work with him for a while until your family and friends stop pestering us up here.”

“Where am I going?” I asked, the final question I needed answered.

He only smiled, holding his hand above his head. “You’ll see.”

And like that, I fell onto the cold ground, the whiteness making my whole body freeze. It was snowing slightly, but the snow was thick. I shook it off as I stood up.

"Why, you good for nothing-" I started but cut myself off, seeing the giant structure high above the ground, perched on a hill or mountain or something like that. There were jagged points all over, windows, red, green, and the joyful music was playing… and the sound of bells. But not just any type of bells; sleigh bells.

And I realized where I was.
