"Did you just see that?" I asked Jake, and he nodded. "Did he really just ask out my best friend after she was here for like five minutes!?"

"Heaven is a strange place." He stated, and I nodded.

"Yeah, no kidding." I agreed, feeling awkward that we were the only two people left in the room. "So, uh… sorry about that."

"It's fine." He assured me. "It's weird how your best friend is from Hell, though."

“Oh trust me, there is a weird story behind that.” I laughed lightly, but cleared my throat, continuing. “But she’s always been a little… flirty.”

“I can tell.”

“Yeah… well, it’s been a weird night, I guess I’ll see you tomorrow slaving?” I laughed, because that was the name that everyone was calling it now.

“Yeah, sounds good. Maybe even see your friend?” He asked, but I shrugged.

“I don’t even know how she hasn’t gotten kicked out yet.” I stated, and he smirked as he left, leaving me finally… alone.

“So what are you doing today?” Jake asked as he slung an arm around Brenna, and we were walking to the front where God was going to be assigning things.

“I don’t know, I just don’t wanna paint the fence.” I whined, and they nodded.

“Yeah, it does nothing good to my back.” Brenna complained. “But then again, I just don’t like working in general.”

“Nobody does.” I agreed as we stood in line, and I saw God with his clipboard down the line. “Does he really need a list to remember us?”

“Apparently.” Brenna stated as he made his way down the line, and finally stood in front of us.

“Okay Jake, you’ll be fencing, and Brenna, you’ll be doing animals.” He told them, and they whined and went off with themselves. “And Marie… you and I need to talk.”

“Oh God, what did I do now?” I asked stupidly as I disappeared from the outside gate and into the all white room, alone with him. “Really? You have to do that?”

“They’re sending people after you.” He stated, slamming his hand down on a table. “Don’t think I don’t know that Karma’s up here.”

“Oh yeah, like I asked her to come.” I muttered, crossing my arms. “It’s not my fault that I’m locked up here and they’re sending people to get me. It’s a rescue, it’s a mission. I’m a devil, what do you expect them to do!?”

“We could go to war over this.” He stated, and I shut my mouth, forcing myself to shut up. “Devils shouldn’t be up here if they’re not paying off a debt.”

“How long did you want me to work here, huh? I’ve been here a month, at least, slaving away with the work, tasks, jobs, whatever the Hell you want to call them.”

“Don’t be using that language up here, it’s forbidden.” He ordered.

“What are you going to do about it? A normal punishment would be going there.” I shot back, and if I could use the devil powers I used to have, my skin would be blood red.

“Just don’t use it, there’s no reason to.” He concluded, stating his reason, although it was stupid.

I leaned in with my arms still crossed. “Hell.”

His foot slammed on the ground, making me stumble back once the shock waves got to me. “Would you stop that!?”

“Send me back, let me go back. You’re God, you’re supposed to be the one bringing joy to the people that are up here! The people still living want to think that the Heaven stereotype is real. What is this? It’s nothing like it.”

“Because I bring joy to those who are dead and deserve it, but most of all, people that were once human. What are you? You’re a devil.”

“Well, apparently, I’m an angel now, so you still need to live up to your name.”

“You will always be a devil in my eyes.”

“The rest of Heaven doesn’t know that.”

“You’re the one who wants to keep yourself a secret, but with everyone else coming from Hell, soon everyone’s going to know.”

“Well, I don’t give a damn.” I stated, shrieking and ending the argument.

“Satan will when he learns that you’re going to be stuck up here forever.” He growled, threatening me. I gave him the coldest stare I could, keeping my mouth shut so the argument wouldn’t continue.

“Is that all you wanted with me?” I asked, breaking the stare, but still feeling the annoyed tone in my voice.

“It doesn’t matter how many people they send, you’re stuck up here.” He stated, and then I was in the hallway to my room, looking at a wall. I growled at his childish actions of sending me away like that.

"Well maybe I can escape better then you think." I muttered as I walked down the hallway, trying to find what time it was. Did that mean I have no tasks today? Sweet!

After three hours of seeing a movie at the theater (which I snuck out to,) it was already lunch. Some people were done for the day, but none of my friends I saw. I sat alone at lunch, eating in quiet, and then going back to my room, maybe to sleep or daydream about my family again. Actually, what I really wanted to do was find Karma. And that will be one Hell of a conversation.

But as I turned the corner to go to my room, I saw Karma against the wall with Nathan in front of her, her leg up by his waist and her arms around his neck, his hands on her waist. Their lips were locked together, eyes closed, ignoring everything around them.

My damn best friend and the demonic angel I've recently met, making out in front of my room. Oh, all Hell is gonna break lose.
