I stood at the top of the stairs, continuing to stare at the doorknob, and wondering what I should do. There was total silence, until the Fij guy, who I knew was the guy with the paper bag over his head, shouted,
"You can come down! Unless you're Gandalf, then by all means bust us out of here! But if you're not, just come down. Nobody here bites, or scratches, or makes terrible music. The biggest threat to us just ran out of the room, in a quest to hunt down his brother. You call him Tristam, I call him a murderer."
I shyly walked down the stairs and waved. Fij waved back, then stood up, walked over to the stairs, grabbed my arm, dragged me over to the couch, and shoved me onto it. I sighed and asked,
"Dude, why did you do that?"
He smiled and replied,
"The only way to stop an awkward situation is to drag the person that's making the situation awkward into an even more awkward situation. So you were making the situation awkward by hiding from us... And now I've put you into an awkward situation to even it out. You get my logic?"
"No," I responded, "I actually need someone to translate what you just said."
"Oh, I'll translate that for you," a guy with long blond hair and brown eyes said, "What he was saying was that he didn't like the awkward silence. The fact that you were dragged down here has absolutely nothing to do with that whatsoever. My name's Alex, by the way."
"And mine's Ephixa," the guy who had asked me who I was after I had taken the photo added. I smiled and said,
"It's nice to meet you guys."
"Okay, we NEED MORE INTROS," a guy with spiky-ish black hair and purple contacts shouted. His voice sunk to a normal level as he continued, "I'm Monstercat, the head DJ of, you guessed it, Tasty Records. No, just kidding. I'm the head DJ of Monstercat. You can call me Monster, if you want. And after I know you a little better, you can call me Kitteh."
I laughed as another guy, who had floppy brown hair, green eyes, and looked to be about sixteen or seventeen spoke up.
"My name's Braken. I'm one of Tristam's closest friends, and a very mellow and loveable guy. Well, mellow and loveable until you mess with my friends."
"And I'm Puppet," the only guy remaining said. I already knew it was him, as his distinctive hairstyle and mech-like tattoo were very visible. "I'm random, colourblind, and a crazy cat man."
I stared at him, then softly asked,
"What's it like being a mech?"
"Fabulous," he responded. The room was silent, until finally, Fij inquired,
"What do you guys want to talk about?"
"Something depressing," Alex sarcastically muttered.
"How about Chapter 18 of DilumiStories' Monstercat University?" I asked. There was a moment of silence as everyone stared at me. Then Puppet buried his face in his hands, Braken started to fake-cry, Alex comforted Braken while fake crying, Ephixa stared off into space, and Monster shouted,
"DON'T REMIND ME OF THAT PAINFUL DAY!"
"I-i r-refuse to b-bel-lieve th-that Tri-ristam i-is de-dead..." Braken sniffled. Ephixa sadly gulped,
"He was such a good person..."
I rolled my eyes and muttered,
"You do know that the actual, non-fictional, LIVING, NOT DEAD Tristam just ran out of the room in search of his brother, right? And that he's not dead?"
