A/N: Hey look, it's Chapter 35... out before album 035! Are you not proud, humans? Just FYI, I was having a hard time posting the link to the song for this chapter, so if the song doesn't show up, it's Words by Feint feat. Laura Brehm! :)
The next day, I slowly sat up in bed, and tried to figure out why I felt so tired at ten o' clock in the morning. My head was slightly aching, and I was really, really tired. Then everything came back to me, and I instantly sat straight up in my bed.
"Holy crap," I whispered, "Last night. It happened. Oh God."
"No dip, Sherlock," someone suddenly said from beside me. I jumped, and almost punched X, who had appeared beside me, in the face.
"Watch your hands," he yelped, jumping back, "You are wildly flailing them around and one almost hit my face. And if it had, I would have felt offended."
I rolled my eyes and muttered,
"Who said I was wildly flailing my arms around? Maybe I actually was planning to hit your face."
"Rude," X said. I shrugged, then sighed, and mumbled,
"Ah, sorry. I'm still tired."
"Mhm," X said, "Do you want me to help you get back to sleep? All I need is a baseball bat, or I can just use my fist."
I paused for a moment, then replied,
"You know what? I think I'm going to stay awake. I like keeping my face intact, you know?"
"Yeah, I know those feels," X laughed, "And I wouldn't hit you in the face anyways. You're a nice person, and I'm not always a jerk."
"Let's all pay special attention to the 'not always'," I laughed, rolling my eyes. I stood up, then said,
"Well, I'm going to go downstairs to have food. You can come along if you want, but I hope you don't mind my parents freaking out about the demonic shadow that's suddenly haunting our house."
"Oh, no, they won't," X casually said, "People love me. I'm a real charmer. Oh, if you want to make it even better, how about you have me go into the human form that I do have that's not Varien, and I'll follow you downstairs, and they can freak out about the fact that some random guy managed to sneak into their house in the middle of the night."
"You have a human form?" I asked, a slightly confused look on my face.
"Yeah, I do," X replied, "I haven't used it in over a thousand years, since I look like I'm related to Obsidia or something... maybe it's not Obsidia, but it is someone here, and it would be bad. Bad situations, you know? Obsidia... or whoever the person who I looks like is... I'm about ninety-nine percent positive it's Obsidia. Anyways, he wants to think he's individual, and who am I to ruin his ego?
"You're so considerate," I sarcastically said, "Very considerate, always thinking about other people's egos."
"You're salty in the morning," X said, a slight tone of alarm in his voice, "Really salty. Here, have a pretzel."
Suddenly, he pulled a pretzel out of nowhere, and handed it to me. I took it, slightly confused, and slowly said,
"Thanks. I don't know if it's safe to eat this, but thanks for the gesture, anyways."
"You're welcome," X cheerily said, "Now get out there and own the day!"
"Wait, what am I supposed to do with the-" I began, before he disappeared, then quietly continued, "...pretzel?"
There was no reply, and I rolled my eyes, then muttered,
"I guess... I'll... eat it."
I slowly ate the pretzel. Thankfully, X hadn't poisoned/cursed it, so I came out of that experience with the knowledge that, if I acted salty around him, I would get free pretzels.
