As we started to drive, Karma, who had called shotgun, picked up a pair of portable speakers that she had brought along for the ride and asked,
"Who wants to donate their playlist to the public so that everyone else can join in the celebration of music?"
"ME!" Mike shouted. Braken, who was sitting in the far back, with me, gave him a sideways look and asked,
"Really?"
"Yes," Mike replied, "Really."
Karma laughed, then said,
"Alright, we'll go by reverse seniority. Echo, you're the youngest here, surrender your phone to the big fancy speaker thingys that play sound."
"Wait, I have a travel playlist," I said, "I'll put that on."
"Sounds good!" Karma exclaimed. She reached back her hand, and I quickly brought the playlist up, and handed her my phone. Karma plugged the phone into the speakers, and 'Itvara' blasted through the speakers.
"I like the irony of your song choice," Haywy... Marty commented, "You do know what Itvara means, right?"
"Traveler," I responded, "And we're all traveling somewhere, so we're travelers. I also like listening to a lot of the songs on this playlist for stargazing."
Braken smiled and said,
"Yeah, no kidding. Do you have any of our songs with you?"
"I have To The Stars, your version and Curious Kontrol's version. I also have a ton of Haywyre's songs, like Insight, Endlessly, I Am Me, I Am You, Everchanging... I listen to a lot of your stuff while traveling. Also, I have Build The Cities and Skyline."
"How about stuff by me?" Mike whined, "I'm as good of a musician as they are..."
"You don't write music," Karma said, "You just exist as CEO and resident crazy dog person of Monstercat."
Mike laughed, then hummed along to the song. Karma turned to us and started dancing, a small smirk on her face. Braken suddenly put his hands up and loudly sang,
"Let's watch the skyline side by side..."
"SOME VOCALS THAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND!" Karma shouted. From there it was like one big, crazy dance party. Mike rolled the windows down all the way, and we danced for the next half hour. When we finally settled down, Braken took a deep breath, then turned to me and exclaimed,
"You need to stop having fun music on your playlist!"
"Maybe we need to stop being fun people," Mike suggested, "That would certainly solve half the problem."
I laughed, then my phone buzzed in my pocket. It was a text from Gabe.
GabeBerube: Yo, where r u? Ur not a HQ, u left?
Yes, sorry! I typed, then sent it.
GabeBerube: Apology has been accepted.
DigitalEchoes: Ill send tons of pics of how much fun I'm having without you
GabeBerube: Lovely... g2g, btw... seeya soon!
DigitalEchoes: Seeya!I laughed and closed my phone, then quickly explained,
"It was Gabe. I made sure to let him know that I'd send him photos of how much fun I'm having without him."
"Friendship," Marty said, "That's friendship indeed."
"You should take a photo right now!" Braken exclaimed, "We're still in the land of good cell coverage, send it to him while you can."
"Alright!" I exclaimed, "Everybody lean in to the photo... except for Mike. Mike should just keep driving. Otherwise we'll all die. And that would be bad."
